So today, I bought a new computer with 512 RAM. I have a 1gb stick of RAM, but it won't fit inside. The RAM already inside is PC4200 and the stick of RAM I have is PC3200. I thought it would still fit, just slower? Or am I just trying not hard enough to put it in?

Umm probably because you are trying to put DDR into a DDR2 slot. They are two different types and sizes of ram.
the ram in the PC is DDR2 ram and the ram you are trying to install is DDR ram they are totally different and you can't put the DDR ram in your system so don't even try you will need to get another stick of DDR2 pc4200 ram with the same clock timing for it to work. don't try and force the ram in because you will damage your MOBO.

Yes, sadly DDR RAM does not fit in a slot designed for DDR2 RAM. At least you didn't go out and buy the RAM, only to find it doesn't work.
