Hello Hardware Discussion. I'm having issues with my RAT 5 gaming mouse. Occasionally I will lose horizontal movement for several seconds, and by occasionally i mean several times an hour. As you can imagine this is extremely detremental to gaming. I've opened a support ticket with the developer of this mouse but that was last friday and have still not gotten a response. I figured while I'm waiting for that I can see if you guys would have any idea or pointers on how to troubleshoot this problem.

don't they have a forum? Also isn't that made from madcatz? They have awful quality control.

If its under warranty, RMA it. Otherwise, take it apart and have a look see to make sure there isn't something out of place.

IIRC its made by Saitek under Madcatz name if that makes any difference. Give the surface youre using it on a nice clean or just blow into the laser thing to clear it out. Always works for me.

Have you tried blowing the sensor clean? That usually helps me. It's really sensitive to little particles and such. I've also read that you could perhaps clean it with a cue tip.

Blowing into the sensor did indeed provide temporary fix. I have now used a lint roller on the mouse pad and haven't had the issue since. Go figure the simplest thing.. Thanks guys.
