All thanks to lazy porting on the PC version. I guess they just didn't care about us :(

It's happened with many games in the past. Hopefully developers will make more effort (or at least make some effort) when porting games to the PC.

Well, I think the fact that the wii controls work well and actually enhance the gameplay added to the score. The PC version was merely a port of a 2 year old console game making it less impressive. Not to mention the graphical problems that point to a hastily thrown together port. Luckily, the game itself is largely intact on the PC, making it a must have for anyone who hasnt played the console versions. Its just that the wii version made the game feel fresh again and the PC version... well... didnt.

No....it was more than that. Come on. We pc gamers lost the cutscenes. We had bad mouse support. We had terrible delays. We had graphical glitches.

There are not cutscenes in the PC version? I wonder what their reasoning is for that one.

There is no excuse for bad mouse support, which sadly the main problems with PC ports tend to be bad mouse support, bad camera view/control and lack of a menu. "Press start" is not a good way to impress a PC Gamer.

LOL, what you are all talking about? Missing cutscenes? No, they are just prerendered like in the PS2 version. Graphics glitches? Where? Never encountered any and i played the game firsttime without the patch that enhances the graphics a lot (1.10 Euro patch -you can find it at the UK Ubi site). No mouse support? I'm glad there's no mouse support. Can you press atrigger buttons on the mouse which are required in some sequences? I don't think so.

I gave RE4 on GC 9.6 and RE4 on PC 9.0 (it deserves that rating when you have gamepad and apply the mentioned patch).

True (or hardcore)PC gamers should have equipment for each type of games they are playing; i have Dual Analog Gamepad (Logitech Rumblepad II) for console type of games+arcade racersand a steering wheel for realistic racing games. Playing ALL games solely on keyboard+mouse is for casuals, deal with that.

Well, as a pc gamer, and like most of us, we play pc games because we want to use the mouse and keyboard, because its PC GAMING. (qwerty and left and right clicks here)

What? without the patch the game looks like its a staright port of the ps2 version, and that is not saying much.

And for the cutscenes, well i would like to see my own pc render the cutscenes, its an insult to my graphics card(its just an X1650 but i love it). If its Final fantasy quality movie yeah sure. But not this one.

Thank you.

Umm... ok, enjoy playing with half-assed controls then. Most of games which are both on consoles and PC requires a dual analog gamepad with 12 buttons. That's whymany great multiplats will suck foryou gameplay-wise (Prince Of Persia series, Silent Hill series, Legacy Of Kain series, Psychonauts...).

Oh, so you NEVER patch a game? If you haven't heard, patches are important for games, because it fixes glitches, bugs, hardware issues, improves performance... In this case the graphics. A LOT.

X1650 and you LOVE it!?!? Well, you probably don't have high standards for graphics, then why this rant on RE4's graphics? Have you seen it with 1.10 patch, forced 6xAA and 16xAF at 1600x1200?
Thank you.shalashaska88
You're welcome...

I've been playing it a little here and there on my pc and I use a 360 controler for it though if I give it a little while and get use to a mouse it seems about the same because the cam view is odd, but I end up stopping because of the whole having to stop to shoot which is extremely lame.

I work my ass off to get all those things for my pc, and that graphics card costs quite alot for a college student like me. The price tag for that x1650 was RM450 here in Malaysia, and it was worth every ringgit. I may not have uber high res graphics and uber monitor, but i was able to crank up some of the maximum settings in the game. I worked hard for my system.

RE4 on pc, even after patches does not look like a million. Capcom did a bad job of porting the game. liked those cutscenes, but i wish it was my own 'lame' graphics card that rendered it.

That x1650 of mine has rendered many more prettier games than Re4, (GRAW, FEAR, oblivion, condemned, CoH, COD2) and most(not all) of them at max settings. Of course it has the help of my 2 gig RAM. Even half life 2 that came out TWO years ago looks better than RE4 on PC.

Believe me, i too dream of owning a high end card like the GTX or HD2900XT, but with them pricing at RM2000+ over here, what can i do? I just spent 2000 to get a new mobo and a core 2 processor. Not everyone gets all the money from their dads you know. i need another 4 months to get that much money again.

And yeah those games with half assed controls you mentioned, i never bothered installing them on pc. They play better on consoles which is fine by me.

That X1650 has served me well, and i love it.

Thank you again.

Ok... if you say so, RE4 PC sucks by the PC's high standards...

But how good is the game by the standards of PlayStation2?

I believe the pc-version better than the ps2 version. It's true, the graphics might not live up to our everyday pc standards, and there's a lack of dynamic lightning as seen in in the GC & Wii versions, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the gameplay (using a controller ofc).

Go buy it, install the patch if you live in europe, and download the high resolution cutscenes from the modding-community, but of course, only if you haven't got a gamecube or a wii. You won't regret it. I know I haven't.

Very good. It may not have the richer colors and textures found in the GC or Wii, but it still looks gorgeous, and plays superbly. And the cutscenes are rendered real time, unlike the PC version which....well, go read the reviews.
