real time protection?

i use avast and windows defender which both have real time protection. i was wondering if it would speed up gaming at all if i turned it off or would performance increases be negligable.

I got horrible FPS when the AVG process decided that it needed to use CPU time. I turn it off so that it won't sneak up on me in the middle of a game.

not really....they only really use the hard drive and not so much the cpu and definalty not the gpu.

He's not talking about a virus scan. He's talking about leaving the process running so that it automatically checks .exe's that you run or that try to run themselves.
