I had similar questions just last week. I was using a Razes Lachesis but it was too big and not comfortable for a claw user. I pick up a Steelseries Xai over the weekend. It took some time getting used to it but its a great mouse. The buttons (especially the side buttons) are a lot easier to press and are positioned better. Enjoying it quite a bit thus far.
Also consider the Rat7 and old faithful G500.
I noticed no one mentioned the Razer Imperator... Is something wrong with it :S? Cause that's the mouse I'm thinking of getting... Either that or the Deathadder (which also gets my vote I suppose)trastamad03
The deathadder is not good. I've had it for about 2 years now and my gaming performance has never increased beyond what it was when i first got it which is less than the cheap M$ optical mouse i had before. Overall I say don't waste your money on these "gaming" mice. The options that are given with the Razer program that came with my Deathadder offer nothing more than what you could already do in Windows.
The whole "DPI" thing is pointless. 450DPI is the same as 1800DPI, and when it comes to this polling rate, 125Hz is the same as 1000Hz.
The mouse itself looks really cool with the "breathing" blue razer symbol and the blue scroll wheel (the scroll wheel is actually very nice and it has a nice click and nice scroll feeling). It just doesn't feel good even after 2 years.
Don't fall for the "gaming" mouse gimmick. You are paying $60 or more for a $10 mouse. They make a cheap product look nice then slap a huge price tag on them. I went from ball mouse, to M$ optical mouse, to Razer Deathadder and my performance dropped a lot because of the shape of it, even though the actually movement is the same as the ones before. You are fooling yourself if you think these high end mice offer anything a cheapy can't, besides good looks.

hoola
Er... If you really can't tell the difference between 450DPI and 1800DPI, then I don't know what you're doing wrong :? People actively change between low-DPI and high-DPI settings for the sole reason that the low DPI isn't as sensitive to movement as the higher setting, thus it being a more precise setting. That's been known for a long time, and I know that it's not a gimmick because I use it too. However, anything above 1600/1800dpi, imo, is completely unnecessary, as it just becomes too sensitive for me to keep track of.
I'll agree with you about the polling rate though. There really is no difference I can find as well between the various settings.

I actually do feel a difference between low-DPi and high-DPi... I have no idea what the polling thing is though, so no comments on that... I currently use an OCZ Equalizer (25$ CDN) and it's very cheapily built... I had to super glue a plastic piece so the Scroll wheel could become clickable again, not to mention the color is fading like there's no tomorrow... I've also tried the Razer Deathadder at my friends place, since he owns one, and I found it to be more comfortable than mine. I was just thinking of getting the Imperator cause it looked fancy x_X I'm a sucker for fancy stuff nowadays :/ I'm also curious about the Steelseries XAi now too... only thing keeping me back from buying these mice are their price tags...I noticed no one mentioned the Razer Imperator... Ya I read your post about that earlier... thanks!
Avoid Logitech MX518 because it has a very annoying high pitched noise. Unless you're near deaf, this is very problematic for many people.

A spreadsheet I found on another forum. It gives you a general idea which mouse uses PTE so you can avoid them! :D
Enjoy!

I'm still rollin with my Logitech G5 from 2006 (1st Model). I hear the new models are pretty snazzy.

G5 brofist (although mine is a 2007 v2)
Go for the G500 OP.
I tried to trade my buddy his G5v2 for my G500. He said no. :/ Seriously, that mouse is the best of the MX518 and G500 in one sweet package. Too bad Logitech doesn't bring it back. Please Log In to post.
