Recommend me an LCD :) Preferably a good 19inch 1280x1024 LCD and also a 1600x1200 so I know my choices. I've been looking at the Viewsonic 930B 19inch 1280x1024 LCD, is it good?

I was like you and wanted a good 19" LCD. I did a lot of research and by specs I found out that the Samsung SyncMaster 930BF was the best. The only cons in the reviews was the price, but those reviews are old and so now the price has dramatically dropped. So I went out the monitor and I would have to say it's the best 19" monitor i've ever used in my life. 1280x1024 max resolution @ 85hz, 4ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio and best of all a great looking design, unlike the ViewSonic monitors. I would highly recommend this monitor.

Also, I got one for $619 Australian dollars (444 USD).

That Viewsonic looks very good. Viewsonic is by far one of those superior brands when it comes to LCD's. BTW, what is your budget?

Try Samsung 970P... PVA panel, 6ms gtg, 19", great design (IMHO), but has two disadvantages: -Price -Only On/Off button, everything else has to be set from software which is not really good...

It's not only good. It's probably the best 19 inch model available. I have its precedessor, the VP191b and it's head and shoulders above any other LCD I've seen.

What about Samsung 940BF? But yah I heard reviews on tomshardware and anandtech say viewsonic one is best 19inch LCD.

Thing about CRTs is I can do 1600x1200, and for LCDs dont want to buy 1600x1200 one too expensive. Is 1600x1200 over estimated?

I would have 2GB Ram, 2.8 ghz P4 and 7900gt. But again 1600x1200 requires getting a new video every few months or at least every 6 months.

Viewsonic 930B 19inch 1280x1024 LCD or Viewsonic VX924? XboxBoy1205

The VX924 is no match. The 930b is better in all aspects except the response time (at least in theory) : better contrast (blacks), better colors, better viewing angles, height-adjustable.

The 940BF is the equivalent of the VX922. Better response times at the expense of image quality (6-bit panel).

Viewsonic VX924 compared to Viewsonic 930B = better image quality at the cost of response times for 930B? What does that mean, what's better then? how important is image quality and response times

Theres the  Viewsonic VX924 VX922 930B and Samsung 930BF. And you said for 930B its best 19" monitor, and sacrifices response time for picture quality, describe more please. How does response time help, what would you do if you were me (7900gt) im a noob don't want to make a wrong decision!

The overall best monitor is the 930B (hence the price).

Response time is the time needed to change the color of one pixel on teh monitor to another color.  If the response time is high, the screen takes longer to update and that translates in ghosting, blurring and trails with fast moving images (like in games). All the monitors mentioned above have good response times but the VX922 and the 930BF are somewhat better than the other two.

Image quality. That's a general term for a lot of variables like the amount of colors the panel can display (6-bit panels like the VX92x cannot display the same color range as an 8-bit panel like in the VP930B), the contrast (better blacks), the brightness of the colors, screen uniformity (some parts of the screen are more lit than other parts, this shoudl be kept to a minimum), viewing angle (the colors fade when you don't look at a 90° angle at the monitor, if the viewing angle is wide enough this is not a problem) etc.

I'm also looking at a new monitor and was considering the 960BF, anyone know if this is a good monitor for gaming? The specs look to be good, but they don't always tell the whole truth.
Thanks

Do you recommend Samsung 930BF or Viewsonic VX922 for a better monitor? Then, would you recommend that monitor (betweeon these two) or the Viewsonic 930B? Is response time rEALLY important that the 930B would make me pissed off?
