my laptop's screen runs at 1024x768....however when i play gunz and maple story on 800x600 resolution (to increase performance cause my laptop isnt the best) it doesnt take up the whole screen....its basically showing a smaller picture with black bars on the top, bottom, and sides. whats going on with it. 800x600 used to fill up the full screen with less detail, but all of a sudden the picture is just smaller now and placed in the center of the screen. is there a way to reverse it to the way it was (800x600 resolution that fills the entire screen)?

I'm not sure about that particular game, but there should be an option under the graphics settings to make the game run fullscreen and not windowed.

i looked at the graphics setting in game for gunz and maple story and i didnt have that option. it just gave the different resolutions. at 800x600 it played in the smaller screen with the black bars on all sides...when i put it in 1024x768 it goes full screen..

On my older computer I had the same issue when playing games at different resolutions then my desktop. What I did was just press the menu button on my monitor and adjusted it to fit the screen.

You've probably got per-pixel scaling (or no scaling really) on, which means that it just uses the number of pixels required, and doesn't scale the image to fit the entire screen.

Depending on what graphics card you've got, look for an option in the video card's options (e.g. Nvidia Control Panel) for Flat-Panel Scaling. Then set it to use fixed aspect ratio scaling (or if that doesn't appear, just any sort of scaling).

This topic is very different to what you'd usually get on this forum.

Unfortuently I don't have an ATI Graphics Card, so I won't be able to give you exact info, but have a look through the Catalyst Control Centre for an option for scaling.

Otherwise, hopefully an ATI user will post in this thread with the answer :).
