Was debating on if I should have posted this in this forum or in hardware.... Probably better suited for hardware but I think I could get a faster answer here.

Anyways I'm trying to find out how to get RivaTuner to set the fans the way I want. Basically I want it to default the GPU fans at a certain percentage, BUT after a set temp is reached I'd like to it adjust accordingly. I'm looking at the settings and I can only see an automatic and fixed mode. The fixed mode lets me turn the fans to any % , but they won't change even if reaching high temps. The automatic mode seems like the obvious choice, but it won't let me designate when I want the fans to go higher or not.

Er...basicall... Right now my GPU idle temp is higher than I'd like, when messing with the fan controls I found that 35% is a good setting (default is 30%). But I can't figure out how to make it so it always runs at least 35%, while maxing out to 100% while gaming.

Help please? thanks

There are 2 customize options, choose the lower/second one. You can make it run on a specific speed when running a 3D application (games).

I was changing the settings in the adapter settings. Looking at the driver settings now and it's only letting me control the bottom (performance 3D) bar, Once I set that it changes them all to what I choose from there... It doesn't sound like it's going to automatically going to adjust to temps this way? Let me load up Crysis for a few minutes to see what it says.

Mmh, you're actually correct. Didn't even notice it myself. You should ask this in the PC hardware section of the forums. Plenty of people have experience with Riva Tuner there, I hope.

Yep that seems to do exactly the same as the fixed adapter setting.... Fans didn't rise up to the occasion while playing the game. Why isn't it letting me change the stanard 2D and lower power 3D controls manually?

http://www.vaguetech.com/users/dwood/blog/tutorials/rivatuner/ though honestly, you might need to be using an nvidia driver version that rivatuner recognizes to be able to set thresholds. hm.. i haven't used it in a while :\
