I've been playing roller coaster tycoon 2 triple thrill pack all weekend long, anybody else still in love with this game?4n6scienceIt's mind-numbingly addictive. Of all the low-rent tycoon franchises, Roller Coaster is easily the most fun. I find myself picking RCT2 every now and then as a rest from all these excellent, beautiful, sexy new games, and it's always fun for a few hours.
RCT1 was an incredible game, with worthy expansions as well. RCT2 was unfortunately pretty much the exactsame thing, only without the ability to charge both a park entrance fee and ride fees if you wanted (I know it wasn't realistic, but they didn't even make it possible to have both).
RCT3 has been the biggest disappointment for me in the series. It doesn't have the same feel that was in the previous games. There was a certain ingenious simplicity that seems to be missing (or at least part of it). I especially hated the retro interface. And worst of all, there's no merry-go-round music, not even for the merry-go-round! How am I supposed to go through life without getting every merry-go-round song stuck in my head anytime I play a RCT game? It's just not the same, I tell ya :(. Don't get me wrong, I sort of enjoy it, but nowhere near as much as I always have the first game (or even the second).
Yeah, rollercoaster tycoon was amazing. The way the series died down is a little sad though. I hope someone will just go back and mix all the best aspects of the games together and get that feeling down again. Until that time I'm still playing RCT1 from time to time.
Anyone looking for other cool business strategy games: Transport tycoon (or it's older brother locomotion) was a great game, but TT is very old now, and locomotion was plaqued by bugs. If you like building something and making money out of it that's a pretty good game to try out.
I also enjoyed Airline Tycoon a lot, but you don't see your planes actually flying or seeing how everything develops because of your actions. In that way it's pretty limited, but still pretty fun to try out.
This thread has made me want to boot up my 5 year old PC and play some RCT. That was just an enjoyable experience.teirdomeJust wait till someone starts posting screenshots again and you get the merrygoround tune in your head again... Iknow it once drove me nutsagain.
