Some role playing games are deep, and some concentrate on action. We can all agree (I hope) that the RPG that offers most action is Diablo, and the one that offers most role-playing is Planescape: Torment.

If Diablo gets '1' in RPG content, and Torment gets '10', lets rate all other RPGs according to the role playing experience they provide.

note: those ratings aren't scores; they just represent how deep the game actually is.

I'll start:

Oblivion - 4

Baldur's gate - 6

Fallout -8

I'm playing Fallout 2 for the first time. Great game that can be very unforgiving (just how I like my RPGs).

Well I think that all games are RPG who have an experience and level reception function. 8) So we can't rate games like you do...

How in Pistolpetes bunghole can any Diablo get anything above a 1? Its a 5 hour long game that you repeate over and over. It has 0 depth in terms of RPG gameplay. Ya you can customize gear but what the point if you already beat the game once and have no real options to replay it since all games have the same story and outcome? It might be a good action game, like a modern side scroller but it is no RPG.

Morrowind - 9
Oblivion - 5
NWN - 8
NWN2 - 5
BGI&II - 7
Fallout I&II -7
FFVII - 5

Yes, Diablo2 contains 0% RPG elements... (not that it makes it a bad game).

but how could you give Morrowind '9'? Yes, it's a free roaming game, but not even close to the depth of fallout and baldur's gate, let alone Torment.

And lemme add a few games:

Divine Divinity - 3

Gothic - 5

Divine Divinity a 3?  Gothic a 5?  I thought those were pretty decent RPG's...

I would score them a 6 and 7 respectively.

And to add one of my own:

Arx Fatalis - 7.5
