Thinking about pre-ordering saint's row the 3rd (i can't deny SR2 was a horrid port the caused much cursing on my part but i still had fun and found it funny) the devs say the PC version isn't a port at all and say they redid the driving from what i seen in the demo's vids looks 100% better...as a long time gta fan i enjoy both the differences and the simularities and hoping the 3rd will be better... (and i would have liked if they would make a PC version of saints row so i can get the missed humor in sr2 from it) ...anyone else planning on getting it? / heard anything more about the PC version?

Yea, I am definitley getting it whenever the revies comeout for the PC version. If its bad or not as good as the consoles then I am just going to buy it for the PS3. I would have pre-ordered by now but I will never pre-order a game again, learned my lesson with Dragon Age II

This is my most anticipated game this year and then Skyrim right behind that.

Looks like people don't learn their lesson. Wait for reviews for pc version before you buy. I am excited for the game from the previews but I'll wait to see how it turns out on pc before buying it.

I'm waiting to hear if it's a better port than the 2nd, but I'll keep my eye on this, loved the other 2.

mostly thinking of pre-ordering because of the pre-order bonus goodies:(not to sounds like a billboard for the game)

"Professor Genki's Super Ballistic Man-a-pult: Cruise Steelport in style with this vacuum-action human-cannonball truck. Suck up pedestrians and use them as live ammunition against the forces of evil, and everyone else. Professor Genki's "Octopuss" Weapon: Fire baby octopi onto your enemies' heads! Watch as the octopi massage their scalps and your enemies fight for you! Enemies can be friends too! Professor Genki's Leisure Stunt Suit: The ultimate in comfort and tight-fitting apparel, the Genki Leisure Stunt Suit is perfect for skydiving over Steelport or to wear while ejecting from high-flying fighter jets. Free Genki mask included! Still not convinced? For a limited time, U.S. and Canada customers who purchase Saints Row: The Third on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC platforms from the THQ Online Store will also receive the Saints Row Season Pass and FREE SHIPPING*! The Saints Row Season Pass includes three downloadable mission packs valued at more than $20. It's all the Saints Row you can handle!"

free shipping and 3 bonus missions packs on top... the man-a-pult i can see much fun to be had with it =p .... but i guess i can live without them... only game(s) i have ever pre-ordered before was GTA series that i could. R* had earned my blind faith (and personally didn't have a problem with gta 4 and dont regret the buy or the pre-order) as you can see loosing my faith in R* with them snubbing us pc gamers with no RDR(and i write them weekly to remind them they are selling pc gamers out!(NO+RDR+PC=BOYCOTT R*). still unsure TBH but i guess i'll have to weigh the risks 49.99 (pc version is 10bucks cheaper then xbox/ps versions) vs the rewards (pre-order bonus') some more... thanks for the replies so far have giving me more to think about

After that crappy SR2 port, I don't think I can believe anything performance wise forSaints Row the 3rd. They gave me a bitter taste.

Personally i've got a little more faith that they can actually pull off a decent PC port this time around after seeing how they managed Red Faction Guerilla and Red Faction Armageddon. At least on my end, I had never experienced any problems with both of those games in the technical area so i remain hopeful(just in terms of the technical area, the game itself, i'm holding cautious optimism for).

Come to think of it, I don't recall any bad ports in recent memory. I think consistently(I can only tell from the games i've played recently) ports have been getting better in the technical department.

SR2 port was not made by Volition, Inc. but rather another studio. Red Faction 3: Guerrilla was a good port, and Red Faction 4: Armageddon is a dedicated PC version on par with STALKER: COP in terms of optimization. SR3 PC version like RF4 is being made in-house by Volition, Inc., the same guys that made Freespace 2.

Clarifying again, SR2 PC version was made by CD Projekt, the guys that made The Witcher 2 which is why it was a terrible port job.

RF4 is one of the best, if not the best PC version of any multiplatform game which is because it was made in-house by Volition, Inc. and Volition is making the SR3 PC version in-house much like RF4.

I'd wait if I were you. SR2 was terrible on the PC. Even if you find a deal on pre-ordering it, how much of a deal is it if it's junk?

thanks again for the replies everyone ...i'm still about 50/50 on if i'm gonna pre-order it or not..

"Saints Row the Third's "PC version is not a port" PC fans of Saints Row rejoice! Your version of Saint's Row: The Third is not a port, it's built from the ground up as a PC game!

Speaking with writer Drew Holmes recently about the upcoming game in the Saints Row series, we thought we'd check in with the PC lovers of the game, we were greeted with good news: Drew Holmes: "The PC version is not going to be a port this time, we've got pc team working on it in-house at Volition"

that's mainly what got me interested but i haven't heard anything other then that or seen confirmed PC gameplay ... the demo vids i saw were console versions

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rShcUzxqH5Y (8mins gameplay)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54dzhd6JXQI (7 min gameplay/dev commentary)

was hoping someone had seen or had more info on the pc version / confirmation it wasn't ported (hell i'd almost buy it just because/if they built the pc version seprately wish more companies would... alot of ports feel too much like console game in the flow of the controlls/interactions/menus feels slower/sluggish to me) maybe in the comming weeks they will release a PC gameplay vid

To be fair, RF: Guerrilla had the Windows 7 speed bug that took them the better part of a year to fix. It wasn't a game-breaker, just annoying - and apparently existed in SR2 before, too. And it doesn't look like it was ported by CD Projekt RED - that's the dev studio that did TW2, it was some other studio.

from saints row forums from the saints row forum mod: http://www.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/50413

All three versions are slated to come out at the same time (Nov. 15th), and we'll be talking about the PC version more in the near future. As you already know from the F.A.Q., the requirements aren't complete yet, but RFA is a good baseline. Also, we've been developing SR:TT in-house this time, so it's not a port. It's been in parallel development since the beginning, and it's looking absolutely amazing. V-Singular
sounds like PC info is going to be released in the coming weeks so i guess i'll be waiting atleaste until then to see what they have to say .... i'm suprised they haven't released any more info/media on the PC version yet or confirmed the system requirements and less then 2 months till release
Just because it shows 360/PS3 buttons doesn't mean it's 360. :) V-Singular
sounds like he's hinting that one of the gameplay already out is of PC gameplay but still no confirmed PC gameplay videos out yet =/
