I don't think it's EA's fault that Crysis 2 was removed. That picture is just steam fanboy propaganda.
I think either 1 of 2 things happened: 1: EA pulled the games so they can use Origin 2: EA was an ass and Valve "asked" or made them pull the gameI don't think it's EA's fault that Crysis 2 was removed. That picture is just steam fanboy propaganda.

Has Steam released any kind of statement that would make anyone think this? If so post the link, cause that would be news to me.
The latest statement with regard to this mess was from EA's David DeMartini :-
Unfortunately, if we're not allowed to manage this experience directly and establish a relationship with you, it disrupts our ability to provide the support you expect and deserve. At present, there is only one download service that will not allow this relationship. This is not our choice, and unfortunately it is their customer base that is most impacted by this decision. We are working diligently to find a mutually agreeable solution.Going forward, EA will continue offering our games to all major download sites. We will also remain committed to providing you, our players, with the best possible content, services, and gaming experience that we can.David DeMartini

Personally this smells to me like EA is engineering a situation where they are trying to make Valve look like the bad guys here. At the end of the day I am not a big fan of Valve or EA but if I had to make a choice between which company could urinate on me if I was on fire then I would go with Valve any day of the week.
Valve didn't like the fact that EA was selling exclusive DLC on competitors DD sites. So they they pulled it from Steam.
It was nothing but business. Not that Valve and EA hate each other, it's just that they made a decision with Crysis 2 that Valve didn't support.

"We believe in absolute freedom of choice to allow customers to buy through whatever retail outlet... as long as they're buying an EA game, we're delighted," he countered. "We feel like if you buy the product with Origin, where we're going on a long-term basis is we'll integrate some of the Origin feature set into many of our highest-profile IP... but by all means if your preferred retailer is Best Buy or Direct2Drive or Impulse or Steam or Amazon... we're going to make our product available to you."
"Crysis was taken down because the DLC was not available through Steam; it was available through [Direct2Drive]. That would, I guess, be a situation where two partners didn't see eye to eye, and by their choice, they were going to take that product down because they were insisting that the DLC be available through Steam."

No. Nothing. Valve has been completely silent on the matter. It's kinda wierd.

Suppose they did announce exactly why EA pulled the game. Arguably it would create a lot of tension between the two companies attempting to look like the good guy. Valve makes a killing off EA games through steam, and I don't see why they would want even more games being pulled or other tension in the future.

Maybe them making a killing is part of the reason why Crysis 2 got pulled? They think they have a ton of market power, and that is true. But if they keep abusing their power and raking in big shares of profit for doing next to nothing, devs are going to realize that a middleman is not worth the huge cost.

Not really, it's never a good idea as a retailer to be open with the private dealing between you and your clients. Paints a bad picture for current and future dealings. Please Log In to post.
