PC Gamer released statistics on this, and virtually all hard-core gamers have high speed. They also discovered, to their surprise, that the percentage of people who game on a laptop is an inconsequential percentage - it's nothing.

And by the way, how come nobody has pointed out that AC 2, and SC Conviction, both need pretty beefy rigs in order to run them well. These games were never intended to be played on laptops regardless of the DRM.

Sorry, but they weren't.

If there had been no DRM for Assassin's Creed 2 at all, and everyone loved the game, and some guy came in and posted how he was having a tough time playing on his laptop and that the game wasn't working too well, you guys would have trashed him... you would have utterly trashed him... you would've said: "Dude... dude, you can't be playing this game on a crappy laptop..."

I love the way that people will mix and match their arguments to suit them as needs be. Just some hilarious stuff being posted in these threads.

[QUOTE="WufusRainwright"][QUOTE="superclocked"][QUOTE="WufusRainwright"] The chief one being that it prevents groups like Skidrow from being able to pirate it?

1) If the servers are down, I can't play 2) If I'm on the road, I can't play 3) If my internet is down, I can't play 4) I DO NOT want to open more ports on my router, especially to play a SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN 5) Hackers are, and will continue to have a blast pissing people off because of this DRM 6) If UBI goes out of business one day, I won't be able to play 7) And pirates will still get the game for free, it's just going to take a little longer...

LOL! What a bunch of made-up nonsense.

Made-up nonsense? O.o Please, explain how you can do all of those things with Ubi's DRM. How do you manage to play AC2 when the servers are down? How do you manage to play it when your internet is down? Since you seem to have some magical solution to these issues...

Wufus is either a Ubisoft plant or a brilliant troll

I got modded a while ago for pointing out a System Wars troll was entertaining, so I'm saying goodbye to everyone here just in case the mods smite me instead of the person calling everyone a pirate-in-disguise:)

Baranga

Or I'm somebody who believes that something must be done about piracy and am happily supporting a DRM that actually works.

How extraordinary that I'm not allowed to cheer for a company who has clearly decided to fight back against piracy. How silly that you feel the need to brand me a troll because I don't believe exactly the same things that you believe. How unbelievably paranoid of you to say that I'm 'an Ubisoft plant' - if you actually believe that I'm an 'Ubisoft plant' then report it to Gamespot. I'm sure that they would never allow that sort of thing to happen.

Sorry, but I'm none of those things. I'm just somebody who is in favor of this DRM.

You guys keep on posting about how much you hate this DRM. Okay, well I'm going to keep on posting about how much I support it. So who's the so-called troll here? YOU are the one who's calling me names. You're calling me 'an Ubisoft plant' and a troll in the same sentence. Why? Because I disagree with you. How ridiculous.

EDIT: How do I file a complaint at this website? I don't think it's fair that another forum member be allowed to start calling me 'an Ubisoft plant' when he has no evidence of that whatsoever? I don't work for Ubisoft - that's just plain ridiculous. This forum member, Baranga, is suggesting... no, he's saying... that I work for Ubisoft and that I've been given orders to come here to defend the DRM on Ubisoft's behalf. He shouldn't be allowed to make such false and ridiculous accusations of that nature. Why is he allowed to get away with that?

Im pretty sure DRM isn't going to deter pirates at all from pirating games... Theres always some sort of crack or hack to get anything working...

The games using this DRM were cracked weeks ago. I had heard about it, but I know for sure now. Want me to buy Splinter Cell? Drop the ridiculous DRM...

What a shame. Should've known that this was going to happen, yet again. Probably putting some more DRM on it for us all to enjoy.

The only losss is ubisoft loss. When they add a drm like that and still try to push the console version sales.

My thoughts exactly. There seems to be a common fallacy among DRM apologists - they often believe that those of us who are refusing to buy games with DRM are missing out on something and that this something is irreplaceable. I suspect this may be down to a mentality that there is no world beyond gaming, an obsession if you like. The reason why this is a fallacy is because people who do not spend the 50 euros or 60 dollars on, say, Assassin's Creed 2 will go on to spend it on something else, be it another game, a night out, a few DVDs, whatever. In my case I spent the money that I would have spent on Assassin's Creed 2 on Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing for the PC, and I'm still having a whale of a time with it. Had I bought Assassin's Creed 2, I would have lost out on Sonic Racing, and my girlfriend and I are certainly glad that I didn't. It's the same with this game - I won't fork out the 50 euros for it, but I'll certainly do something worthwhile with the money that I wouldn't have otherwise done.
