condemned should be on the list, much much scarier than f.e.a.r. (aint nuthin scary bout killing commandos in slow motion..., and that couple of scripted scenes between fights aren't either)
Undying is by far the scariest from these...
Funny story about scary games. The only time I've ever jumped out of my seat from a game was when playing Call of Jaurez . At the beginning during a tutorial you have to sneak past a farmer. He yells at you real quickly when you mess up. The first time I did it I messed up and he yelled and it freaked me out because I had my face right up in the monitor and I thought I was doing well, then all of a sudden he starts yelling and it scared the hell out of me.
Yes, I know Call of Jaurez isn't a horror game. That is why this is a funny story. I just wanted to clear that up before someone quoted this and was telling me that I'm retarded for being scared by a big open sunny game.:)
Out of over 50 people, I have seen only one person mention System shock 2...
I am sorry, I thought I was on the PC games forum... I must have made a wrong turn somewhere...
Id Have To say System Shock 2 or Condemned. Honestly i didn't find fear to be scary in the least bit. I mean I'm not the kind of person who doesn't get scared by games albeit not often but SS2 and Condemned were just flat-out scary IMO
Although its not "in your face horror" scary like Silent Hill, but more "complete dread and isolation" scary, System Shock 2 was a damn scary/creepy game for me. Completely and utter isolation on a derelict ship on the verge of implosion, walkiong throuhg dark corridors, hearing machines buzzing with no users, lisiting to the past audio logs of the now dead memebers of the space ship, and then hearing a wail from the mutant Hybrids on teh ship moaning "Killl MEEEEEeEEE!"
I removed the poll cause to many are saying 'why is (insert game name) not on it' and 'why is Half Life 2 on it? Apparently its not a horror game' so yeah, just tell us what you think is the scariest game on pc.yoda_soda_koder
Look, I understand the question was which of these games, okay. However, its just that its such a strange list of game you had. You included some great heavy weight horror games like Undying (which is sadly not too known) yet you also included games like HL2 which just... it just seems strange.

Yes! That almost sums it up.
There hasnt been a scary game or movie since I turned 13... :P I do wish that I that I could get scared though... well thats what rollercoasters are for i guess.
Fear was not scary at all. In fact I actually ran towards the girl & tried to squish her in one of the slo-mo scenes since she started getting on my nerves. Unfortunately the game decided it would kill me for even trying.
[QUOTE="thanatose"][QUOTE="pinneyapple"]None of those are scary :|Darth_Kane
I agree.
Me too. Condemned: Criminal Origins and Call of Cthulhu: Dark corners of the earth are waaay scarier than any of these games.
Doom 3, no, FEAR, no, but CoCDCotE yes, and C:CO sort of, but the Shalebridge Cradle mission in Thief 3 had me looking over my shoulder in my dark room, wondering if I could deal with it, even though the rest of the game was "whatever".
so ive read all the posts and have really been suprised with what i read. i would have to vote doom 3. the atmosphere and amount of times something messed up would jump at you from every angle really did it. i tried playing with headphones, but i couldnt do it for long. all the levels being covered in dark and demons coming at you from all sides really was scary.
what i dont get is all the people who found fear scary. i mean, the first couple levels had some creepy parts with the images flashing and the girl appearing out of nowhere, but the game on a whole was not scary at all. it was disturbing, but far from scary. there was no point in that game where i reallygot the shivers and felt like i needed to pause the game and get ahold of my senses like i did in doom 3. dont get me wrong, fear was fun. but far from scary.
and to the original posters recall of experiences playing fear, lol. im sorry, but i dont get that scared playing games and i had to laugh at you. yeah there are some games that me and my friends have just jaw-dropped at, but not quite as physically moved as you seem to be. and its quite obvious that you are in love with fear, but there are far better games out there. of course, its all subjective.
I voted Doom 3. I remember right before Doom 3 came out, I upgraded to a new rig solely to be able to play it. While the game wasn't the genre-defining experience I had hoped for, I thought it was pretty effin creepy and scary. Play Doom 3 with the lights out and the sound on full blast, and tell me that crap isn't freaky. I actually couldn't play it for more than about a half hour at a time because it was so intense and scary. Some of those audiologs are just flat-out creepy!!!lockjaw333
