[QUOTE="fatshodan"][QUOTE="Baranga"]It's not the monsters that are scary. I can only think at one scary monster in the game.

Then what is supposed to be scary? Admittedly, I did only play the demo, but what I saw in the demo was stormy weather, monsters moving at me quickly and generic shock horror.
Made me wonder why it was so well respected. But I wouldn't presume to know the game after just playing a demo... but man, that demo sure didn't make me want to play the rest of the game.
Especially the sound. It's awesome.
Then would come the story, which is very good.
The locations - some of them were brilliant, like the monastery when you go back in the Medieval age, or the dead city of Oneiros.
The "things" that happen... some of them are worthy of the "Oh snap!" badge at Gamespot. Even things that would seem lame, like a vision in the mirror, scared the **** out of me. Others are pretty freaky and common. It's not just cheap horror, trust me that there are moments when you're just like WTF.
The gameplay is fast-paced and the action is awesome. I think that in the demo you're in one of the first levels, in the mansion, with a few weapons from the later levels. The thing is, almost all the weapons pwn, some are unique, like the scythe, and some have different ammo types - I love the phosphorus shells. You also have some upgradeable spells that can bring serious ownage, and are quite original: one of them makes you literally shoot flaming, laughing skulls:lol: The weapon system is kinda like Bioshock's, with the advantage that you shoot with the right hand and cast spells with the left one.
The boss fights alone are worth buying the game.
The problem is that you can't "feel" the game when you're just playing the tutorial levels. It's one of the most atmospheric games I ever played. It felt very weird at the beggining, especially because I was mainly investigating wtf was going on in the mansion and there were only a few enemies, but when you master the spells, you get some weapons and you leave the mansion, it's awesome.
I would compare it to Call Of Chtulhu. It's basically like that game, a story driven adventure, only that this one has much, much better gunplay. Definately better than Bioshock's:)
I think I respectfully disagree with almost every thing you just said. Except the combat being similar to Bioshock. I think the opening levels show very well what this game is about. Can't say I was amazed by locations or enemies later in the game.
Call of Cthulhu is ten times better and more atmospheric than this game ever was.
