Well I recently upgraded my computer and am looking for a new FPS game to play online. Looking for something fast-paced like Quake/Unreal Tournament. I have Half-Life 2, but there isn't much of an online community for the deathmatch aspect.
The most important thing is the online community. I was looking at Quake 4, but wasn't sure about the amount of players. I don't want to get a game then come to find that no one is playing it.
Well if you have Half-Life 2 there is Garry's Mod and Counter Strike and loads of old games are still being played like Call of Duty, last time i played it there was about 400 people on it
quake wars is comming out soon, bf2 is almost 3 years old and still has tons of ppl playingnazaric
Umm... It's not even 2 years old yet... Speaking of Battlefield 2... That's a great FPS. It's always very fast paced unless you are right next to somebody. However, it's still a very great game. As for Quake 4, it isn't the most popular, but I guarantee you there are people playing. I have the demo, and that had around 10 or 15 servers alone.

Battlefield 2 is great if you can get it working good... and with 4xAA and maxed out settings, which most graphics cards now can handle (my 7900GS does it for $150 without breaking a sweat), it looks pretty darn next gen.
