Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a cheap, but good headset and I found the Sennheiser HD 202. I saw some really good reviews on it. What does gamespot think about it?

There ya go, you won't get close for the price. These are basically an oem version of theAudio Technica A700s.

If you're willing to spend a bit extra, might I suggest the Sennheiser 515?

I have a pair, and the sound is absolutely excellent. Comparable to some much higher end headphones I've tried.

EDIT: should mention however, that you'll need an adapter for your typical headphone jack, as it's a thicker plug.

I have and use the HD 202s as my primary headphones for gaming. I think they're great; the sound is, quite frankly, the best you'll get for the price. The drawback is that they can fit a bit tight if you have a gigantic head like I do, and you might or might not like the cord placement (a wire from both sides that connects below your chin). They also do not fold up. All this considered I'd still recommend them if you're just using them at your desk.

I don't have any recommended alternatives for a large, over-the-ear phone. However, if you're looking for earbuds you can try the Denon AH-C360 (~$40) or Sony MDR-EX57LP (~$27), or for an on-ear the Sony MDR-Q68LW (~$22).

Good luck,

Boz

Had that one in the past. The sound was kinda good for the price. It's still a budget heaphone and for this the quality ain't top notch. I had to replace the cable 2 times on those (in around 2 year use). Wasn't that much comfortable for long use either. High frequency is also a big let down. In overall the bass and mids were quite nice for that price, even better than some headphones costing much more. I would think for low budget headphone, they are doing a good job!

(I am talking about the HD 202 and not HD 202 II) Never tried out the HD 202 II and they are probably in another category being 70$

Once again, don't bump threads that are a couple of weeks old or older.
