No vista here and no dual core. I"m just gonna wait in a couple years i'll have a monster rig.Unstoppable_1
You actually don't have to have a dual core to play.
THis is from the official FAQ, updated the other day:
Q: What is the recommended spec for the game?
A: The game is at its best on a dual core machine. You'll want an nVidia 7800 card or better with 256MB of RAM, or an ATI X1800 or better with 256MB of RAM. You'll also want 2GB of system RAM. The game's playable on a P4 3.2 or higher with an X800 or 6800, but that's bare minimum. Most PC FPS players are going to want the superior gaming experience that the higher spec offers. And yes, Vista only. The game will not run on XP at all.
No reviews before the game suggest to me two things are probable. 1) It has no hype and will sell poorly and 2)It will be rated pretty poorly (sub 8)nutcrackr
Actually, they sent out the review copies on Thursday night. What it SHOULD suggest to you is that gaming sites don't review games over memorial day weekend. It's that simple really.
why would they send out review copies so late.. Other PC/360 games are reviewed weeks before release. Magazines typically get them quite a bit earlier anyway. Famitsu reviewed it and gave it a 7.5 but nobody else.nutcrackr
Reviews will come sometime this week. Japanese are not into FPS so a 7.5 is actually a really good score.

I don't know, but I know it was the first print. The FASA devs didn't even get their copies before the media.
To Simechak - Yes, I know that between PC to PC its free. This game will just be there excuse to make us pay for online. Im not going to let that happen by not buying this game. Also you missed one very important part about the gimped controls for PC. You can only set your sensitivity so high. So they are going to make us play at low sensitivities. So they can at least give the console kiddies a chance. If they honestly and truly believe that console controlls are better. Then lets see it. I say bring it on.

It looks like the games gonna be poorly optimized :(

I agree. I'll only be playing this on PC. Let's get it on!
Well I do not have Vista and will not until gaming forces me to upgrade. I do own a 360 but I don't buy too many games for it.
So I will not be picking this up, though it never did catch my attention... at all... I am looking more forward to my Fallout 2 being shipped than this game being released :P

Yeah, that's honestly the only reason the stats are recommended so high. I'm guessing it's because it's a DX9 game build from the ground up in a dx10 environment. Doesn't make much sense. I agree with those that said it should have been released on both XP and Vista. Being an early Vista adopter though, I don't personally care.

That's not true man. Do some reading they are not limiting the mouse sensitivity.
The real reason I will not play this game is because the original was an awesome console RPG that was resurrected 14 years later and turned into a dumbed down multiplatform FPS. Had it been an RPG for the PC only, I would be the first to buy it.LiLsLashy
This was kinda what I was thinking also. I playtested this game at the microsoft campus and thought it could make a great game untill I found out there was no single player aspect to the game. Shadowrun was a pen and paper RPG before it was anything else and Microreich just killed that concept by making the game strictly multiplayer.

Yeah, but read my response to this. Think about it. The more people that buy this game, the more people will actually know that Shadowrun exists, and that will make the next RPG version more popular. Give FASA a cookie for trying here and let them make the next SR game the fabulous RPG we are all waiting for.

YOu guys are rediculously ferocious, hehe. Think about it like this. There is a whole generation+ of gamers who have probably never heard of Shadowrun. If they get enough of the backstory to understand why these two factions in the FPS exist, FASA will have just bred a new generation of gamers who will be interested in the next RPG incarnation. This will help, not hurt, the Shadowrun franchise in the future.
If it keeps that inaccuracy for KB/M users and give xbox360 gamepad users Auto aim on the PC, I will not plan on ever getting it in the futureStephenHu
Same here. It's been confirmed already they Halo 2 gives controllers auto aim. I wouldn't be surprised to see this game get the same treatment, especially with the crossplatform play. I still don't get why MS is introducing crossplatform play. Both worlds have existed perfectly up until now, and if games are going to be crippled just to have crossplatform play or even suit players on the PC that don't want to play M/K, this is just awful. Thank God for Valve, and speaking out against MS and their initiative. I will not support titles that MS imposes upon us in this fashion.
Don't think for a second that altering one control method over another just to play each other is just. Anyone who supports this type of gaming is either being paid by MS as a viral marketer(And there ARE plenty of Viral Marketers that troll forums) or is just simply blind to the fact that this is not what PC Gaming is about, or is what the majority of PC Gamers welcome. MS is simply trying to tighen their grip on the PC Gaming community, and it's quite obvious.

I honestly like Microsoft products for the most part. Microreich is just a name that a friend of mine from college used to call them and it's kinda stuck.
As far as Shadowrun goes, I really do hope you are correct that it'll get more attention for the RPG and spur on Microsoft and FASA to create a good PC RPG for it. I think it would be a blast if they had drivable vehicles and online co-op style play.

Agreed 100%. Please pc gamers dont buy this, it can only do harm
Yet another person who can't read. Reading comprehension is good. Only costs to play if you want to play against 360. If you want to play it like other PC FPC, it is still FREE.
You are right, some people cant read. My point was that this will only LEAD to bad things, aka eventual pay to play on pc.

honestly, i think if MS starts to make it 'pay to play,' pc gamers will just go back to free options. MS has to offer something useful that's free, because they don't control this platform :)did you just want to own the 360 players because I see no appeal apart from completely destroying them.nutcrackr
Yup, I'm sick of the console fanboys dissing PC, I won't need to argue, just play and dominate.
Too bad it aint gonna happen.

Not to mention, MS is holding their hand and giving the controller auto-aim, which would be considered an insta-ban in all other PC games, but MS is arrogant enough so it shouldn't surprise anyone. And I don't want to hear that...."oh! just play vs. other PC gamers and don't worry about it..." , well it doesn't matter, anyone using a controller whether it's on PC or 360 gets a cheat.
I'm predicting insta-flop on this one. Spread the word.
lol auto-aim won't help much, controllers still lose.
I think my WCG level in CS is sufficient.
ElectricNZ
The also tweaked the aiming of PC players so that when you turn you're less accurate. People with controllers aren't affected by accuracy when they turn and have autoaim.
There should at least be an option to turn it off

[QUOTE="ParkCarsHere"]Dumbing down the PC so that the 360 gamers can "compete"? I wanted a real PC vs 360 game, but apparently this isn't it.
Simechak
Again, this is a misunderstanding, for the most part. The only dumbing down that has occurred is something that is already in many PC FPS. Basically, the bloom of the crosshair increases the faster you turn, which briefly lowers the accuracy of your shots. Yes, this was implemented to keep PC players from doing a spinning 180 and headshotting a 360 user, which they obviously cannot do, but games like Rainbow 6 use this as well for accuracy reasons. Think about it, if you spin around in a circle and start firing, you are going to be briefly off aim too.
This "problem" has been extremely blown out of preportion by people who have never played the game though. GIve it a chance, I think you'll find that it's fair and NOT annoying.
That guy explained it best. The controller is not as easy to point as a mouse so I don't see this as giving anyone an advantage.
I'm just saying they should have an option to turn it off so the whole KB/M vs controller debate can finally be put to rest. Oh well, we all know who would win anyway.:D
They should also have an option to see exactly who's using a controller or not, because even if you're on a PC and use a controller you still get auto-aim and accuracy isn't affected by turning. In PC only maps there will be a whole lot of people complaining about someone hacking with an aimbot when the person is just using a controller.

I don't know...It' really not that bad. The autoaim actually makes them worse. It drags the reticle to the center of the body making it harder to get headshots. Playing with a mouse is still amazing in this game. The 360 users actually have to actively play against the natural bloom to be good players. I know a bunch of guys who want it turned off on their end too.
Oh well. It's still one of the best FPS experiences I've ever had.

I 100% agree with you. They have destroyed one of my favorite console RPG's of all time (the sega version). Oh well...with so many great game to look foward to, why even care? Too bad though, they could have made a really fantastic RPG based on the shear amount of lore and the cool techno/magic world of Shadow Run. Instead...we get a CS type FPS? What in the heck?

Can anyone post anything other than this? I've explained why this is a retarded opinion like 15 times in this thread. This will re-popularize the Shadowun franchise for a whole new generation of gamers who will then buy the next RPG making Shadowrun *gasp* popular again. If you guys would stop being so selfishly elitist for a few minutes and THINK, you'd understand that this can only help the franchise.
Oh get off yourself...
Turning a brilliant RPG franchise into a FPS multiplayer game does nothing to make the RPG version of it popular. And now that is a FPS game...everyone who cared anything about it's roots now thinks the franchise is a sell out, meant entirely for the masses, and not for the people who know anything about it's roots.
And I am not being "selfishly elitist"...I already said I could care less now about the game or it's IP. As far as I am conserned...Shadow Run as we knew and loved it is dead. If they go back to it's roots....I will maybe take another look, but as it stands now, I could care less about a Shadow Run game.\
And why is this opinion retarded? Did you even play the Sega version of the game? Why would people dissapointed in the fact they took a absolutely brilliant RPG and made it into a FPS be retarded? It's a completely valid opinion. The reason we loved the game is becuase it was a RPG. And rightfully so, it's based on a very unique and fleshed out world. What...becuase they slapped "Shadow Run" on the box we should all be rejoiycing? Thats the only thing that sounds stupid to me...

i don't know much about it but every preview I read said there was little difference between the two and it all comes down to preference. The vista version will also be able to use a mouse or controller.
...guess I couldn't be bothered to read every post here, but have any of the "OMG RPG -> FPS WTF" whiners even thought to mention the pen and paper version of Shadowrun in their sniping? Frankly, both the 16-bit implementations of Shadowrun were kind of weak and NEITHER was terribly close to being an RPG. The Genesis version was a 2d Zelda/Gauntlet critter with a cyberpunk theme (although I'll grant that the Matrix interpretation was slick for the day); the SNES version was...well, it wasn't much of an RPG at all except for the endless conversation mining, plus it sported an intepretation of the Matrix based largely (kid you not) on MINESWEEPER. Yeah, I played them both when they were new and didn't hate either one, but they were only RPGs in the loosest sense of the term.
Hmm? Now if only my local computer store had the game in stock today... =(

You description of the 16bit version is wholey inaccurate. The "matrix" was based largely on minesweeper? lol...sure...

The Live service wont pay itself if they dont charge people for it. If it was up to other people to maintain the servers then Im pretty sure that it would have ended up being free but because Ms choose to host it themselves they need to have some sort of income coming it from it to make it worthwhile because mixing 360 and Pc is a big task...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all Live games player hosted? At least that's how the console games work, I think. If this is the case, what expenses are MS incurring that would justify them charging for the online component?
