Yes you should pick it up.
If you ant something a little different you can try Company of Heroes which is set in WW2. Or World in Conflict, which is set in modern day.
I've been looking to play an RTS in the style of Starcraft 2 with the base building and stuff. So is Starcraft 2 a good game to get right now? I know its got good reviews and everything but some people have been bashing it.lolque13The best RTS i've played to date. At first i was doubting about buying it (Never played SC: BW) but now i have it installed and it was a great choice.)

I agree with this post. I'm someone that hasn't really been into any RTS game in about 10 years (despite buying probably 10-15 of them), but I have somehow managed to put in about 60 hours into SC2 so far. It really is a blast, both single player and multi player. For the multiplayer there is League games (ranked), custom games, mod games, and co-op games. There is always something interesting to do. And single has a long and amzing campaign, seperate challenges, and skirmish against the CPU.
Imho, not a tough choice at all seeing how it's only $5. Unless, you're the type of gamer that doesn't like switching from one game to the other. I like to change it up. ;)If you read this and haven't played this game
then l 'm afraid there will be a tough choice for you to make.
I believe you should buy both.

I'd say, buy it. Starcraft 2 is the best RTS Game that I've ever played, apart from Warcraft 2 and 3.
Its definatly worth the money, only downside is that you have to wait for the Zerg expansion :( - And also my biggest letdown is that you need internet even to play singleplayer, so I cant play it on the train nor buss :(
But yeah, buy it :) It's quite balanced but new patches try help as much as possible, Marines are kind of Overpowered at the moment.
Agreed. Imho, the only thing you will be "let down" about is not being able to play Heart of the Swarm right after. Because after you finish Wings of Liberty, you'll want to.. :P But of course, that's not anyone's fault. Expect a 2012 release date, says Blizzard (Source, IGN). "Don't expect anything until AFTER 2011." Oh, we'll have Diablo 3 in the mean time if it arrives on time. :PI'd say, buy it. Starcraft 2 is the best RTS Game that I've ever played, apart from Warcraft 2 and 3.

I am going to chime in here and be the odd man out. I say no. I refuse to buy it or play it as I am not a fan of Blizzard anymore so that's my reasoning. I think the above people had better arguments than me though :Ptestfactor888That IS a really terrible argument for not buying it XD But yeah, TC should buy Starcraft 2. I'm a big fan of the RTS genre, and Starcraft 2 is a great example of a fast paced, competition-focussed RTS. The ladder system for online is one of the best I've ever used, and you will almost always get matched up with people who are the same skill level as you (or slightly better, to see if you are good enough to move up the ladder further) and the single player is kind of reminiscent of Dawn of War 2's single player. Only good.
I have a question about the game (sorry for thread hijacking, but its about buying the game).
I've never been really good at macro or micro in RTSes, but playing around in Warcraft III (bought it last year) seemed to help improve my skills quite a bit. My question is how hard is it to learn how to use hotkeys and just get good at the game if I've never played a fast paced game like that before (My RTS experience is limited Warcraft III, Age of Empires 1 and 2, and just a tiny bit of SupCom (couldn't play much cause I couldn't get used to the screeen scrolling) and CoH (it was shelved due to too much going on, I'll get back to it eventually).
Yes get it and you can also get like Company of Heroes + expansions, Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars +expansions + Tiberium Twilight (its not that good but its fun), World in conflict + expansion (expansion is not all that great but if you can get it cheap its good), Dawn of War 40k and expansions.
The only game that beat SC2 in balance is SC1. But its not by alot tbh. The ratio across the boards are all very close to 50% (+-5%)
So Starcraft 2 is very balanced? Thats the main reason I don't like CoH is that Germans will win every time with the tanks.lolque13Not yet, but unlike Relic, Blizzard make good decisions when trying to balance their game, so SC2 will eventually be rather balanced. It is impossible to FULLY balance an RTS of course. Even SC has its imbalances, this is due to players finding new strategies that give each race and edge over the other. SC2 is relatively balanced however. It has a few imbalances here and there (Marine Marauder Medivac balls with EMP are still near-unstoppable considering MMM are all early game units) but if you get good enough you can find ways to counter them.

You know that you can hit that button on the first page to PLAY AS GUEST. No online required for that and it is the entire single player experience. The only negative is it is entirely seperate from your logged-in campaign.
You only need to login in once with a real account for you to open the option to play offline.I'd say, buy it. Starcraft 2 is the best RTS Game that I've ever played, apart from Warcraft 2 and 3.
