Hey all. I've seen a good amout of information posted about the upcoming MMO Aion.

I've never played an MMO before, although I am and RPG fan. And right now, if you preorder Aion, you get access to the beta, but there's a few things I'm worried about.

First, shelling out $50 to $60 on a game that has absolutely no return policy. I don't know if it's going to be a good game, or even if it is, I'll like it and apprechiate it enough.

Second, is the monthly fee. I'm not sure if it's a month by month basis, how much it costs or any other details, such as a discount for buying a year subscription rather than a month.

Third, is the "exclusive' preorder in game items. I'm questioning the value of them, considering I've never played the game as well as exactly how "exclusive" it is.

So if anyone has any advice, opinions or things for me (or anyone else debating the same thing), please post.

Thanks in advance.

Get a preorder for only 5 dollars. Try the remaining beta weekends. If you like it, get it. If you don't, you're only out 5 dollars. And you can even get a refund of that at some retailers. Try Gamestop or Best Buy. They should have preorder cases with a card inside with a beta key.

That said, I'll definitely be picking it up, and have already played in several of the beta weekends. Just so you know, the endgame does revolve around PvP, so if you're not into that, it's probably not the MMO for you.

Yeah, GS/EB you pre order for 5 dollars and that 5 dollars can be taken off the pre order and put towards anything in the store, not a bad deal if you ask me.

Gamestop shows on their site that there's no refund, as well as the entire cost of the game needs to be put down.

But on a side note, how much is it like WOW? Maybe I'll try that to get familiarized with the genre.

You definitely can get it from Gamestop for only 5 bucks if you go to the brick and mortar store (or a Best Buy). Just make sure you get a case with a card in it. I and many others have done it. Just probably can't do it online.

As for how similar it is to WoW, that'd take a while. It's an MMORPG, just like WoW, so of course there are similarities. The biggest difference is that WoW's endgame focus is PvE, and Aion's endgame focus is PvP.

MMO's are not at all the same as RPGs. I love RPG games, but I've grown to hate every single MMO without exceptions. They are a grindfest and a borefest with little plot and no satisfying conclusion. You are not travelling towards a goal, but wasting hundreds of hours going nowhere. The only MMO I'm partial to trying is TOR when it comes out but even then I doubt I will enjoy it enough to play on after a month or 2. I'd play it cause I love everything Bioware makes and who knows maybe they'll nail the MMo formula.

You can preorder at game spot for $5, go to the store i dont think you can do it online. Monthly fee will be the standard $15, probably there will be a discont if you pay for 3 or 6 months. The exclusive items only come with the collectors edition, you get some ingame stuff but by the time you reach max lv which is 50 they will be useless. Try to pre order it and try it in the next two closed betas coming soon, after that there will be an open beta for everyone.
