The other day I bought L4D - its pretty good. But I am playing it very casually.

I like games where you feel you are accomplish something and you're following it through.

I didn't like Oblivion but I've heard that this is an improvement. Should I buy it today?!

well, you have probably gotten my opinion, but I say sure. I really like it from what I play except that I suck. I play on very easy and suck, guess I don't know how to play the game, or maybe if I was evil it would be easier.

PS: BL, we will be playing L4D sunday or monday night :) (if you can)

It is pretty much oblivion with guns, but the combat is quite different as is the setting, could be enough to get you liking it. Honestly can't give you an answer, but the majority about seem to think it's worth getting (and I think so to) Also I think you should be taken out and shot for not liking Oblivion, but bullets are pretty costly these days.

If you hated Oblivion with a passion, meaning you didn't see anything positive with it at all then don't touch Fallout 3 even if it's an improvement. One less hate topic about the game on Gamespot then.

I don't know what you mean but LOTS did not like Oblivion. I did not like oblivion much at all unless I had mods installed.

The level scaling system is a lot better in FO3. In Oblivion I understand where yoru coming from. Even when you your character was rigged out the game still felt like you hadn't really grown that much because of the leveling system. FO3 is a lot different though. All I will say is that make sure you put the game to at least hard (very hard is best). And try to get a mod which slows down leveling. And then by the time you hit the high teens you will notice a big difference inthe strength of your character. If you don't do this then the game might move too quickly and your character will be strong before you even noticed he was weak.

I would not modify a game that I've just started playing. I want to see how it is out of the box. I will buy F3 today but I will warn each of you here..... If I dont like it i will be haunting some people.....no names mentioned. You will find that your keys will make their way into furniture every so often - hehehe.

lol I'm kind of the opposite way, I really enjoyed Oblivion and it's beautiful scenery but I just cannot get into Fallout 3's barren, wasteland environment. It all depends on preference I guess.

Well I mean sure, I wasn't expecting lush forests or anything but I still feel like the environment could use a little more...liveliness. Even if it doesn't necessarily make sense in the aftermath of nuclear devestation. Oh well, enjoy the game.

In many ways it is like oblivion with guns, a small poor main quest, big map, lots of places to explore, poor dialogues, characters not properly developed, traveling through lots of same looking buildings and tunnels. It is different than oblivion in many ways. now you have different ways to finish a quest like you like, more stats oriented, much better quests, more atmospheric and more enjoyable leveling up options along with the obvious thing that has gun which is implemented in a much better way than the combat system in oblivion. anyways , i thought this game was pretty good, i struggled to finish 20 hours of oblivion over a period of 1 year, but i finished 50-60 hours of this game in 3-4 weeks or so. As far as your final question goes, i never felt accomplished something at the end of the game, although i did felt I did lots of interesting things and visited lots of interesting place

YES, YES and again YES! I'm on round two in Fallout 3. I liked Oblivion a lot, but I found Fallout to be tighter and more focused. Very atmospheric and fun.

Games are very expensive here. Like just bought L4D the other day for $99 (au) and today Fallout 3 was $79 (au) - thats a really good price here in Australia.

To know if Fallout 3 is for you, we need to know what you did and did not like about Oblivion. F3 is better in some ways, worse in others. My personal recommendation is that you get Fallout 1 instead. If you already have it, just replay it.

Why I like Fallout 3, but disliked oblivion?

There are a few reasons for that, first of all Fallout is more mature, sure it is slapstick sometimes, but it doessnt treat you as a child, the skills and leveling is better, since there are different ways of completing something.

And then there is the world... The world feels more connected, tighter, and more mysterious, sure there are generic subways, but you get a thrill in Fallout 3 when discovering a new palce, which I diddnt get in oblivion.

That said there are alot of things NOT fixed in Fallout 3, animation, the over the top giddyness that sometimes sink through, and like Oblivion a sence of ditatchment in some quests.

I like fallout 3 tho, and if you like post apocalyptic, mad max like games which throws a smile your way, then yeah you will most likely like it.

The biggest problem tho is the feeling of "havent I seen this before?" you get if you playied Oblivion before this one

BUY IT as fast as you can !! and get the strategy guide too, its awesome, you get 15% off when you buy game at same time at Gamestop.

Its highly work it, has maps, tons of stuff, tips, charts.

You will end up playing that Fallout 3 til your eyes hurt and you have to go to work... its highly addictive.
