Okay, so first of all, I am a diehard TF2 player. But recently all of my friends have been playing WoW a lot, so I don't have many friends to play with. The sole reasons I don't want to play WoW are:
1. the monthly fee
2. I don't want it to take over my life
3. fetch quests
but the reasons i want to are:
1. a lot of people i know play it
2. it's a fun open world game with a lot to do
okay, so fetch quests, are there a lot? does the game justify the mothly fee? is it easy to not play for a week?

the negatives you addressed:
1. yes, monthly fees suck, but at the same time WoW offers a near-infinite amount of gametime, so 15 bucks a month isnt that bad. I also found is stops me from buying mediocre games; when I play WoW, I save money since I can wait for a truly excellent game to come along.
2. Well, this is solely your problem. Do you have an addictive personality? Have you ever bought a game and played it for months on end, for hours a day? YOu said you play TF2; do you play this for more than 2 hours a day, or less? If less, then you should do ok with WoW. More importantly, do your friends spend a lot of time (during the week) playing WoW?
3. Not sure what you mean...there are a lot of "kill x type of mob to collect y amount of something" but WoW has a lot of good diversity and questing is, imo, its greatest strength.
the pros you addressed:
1. WoW is literally twice as fun with real life friends. Load up teamspeak or ventrilo on a saturday morning and spend a few hour doing in instance with your buddies.
2. Yes, its an MMO so there is tons to do and lots to explore.
Yes, lots of quests. Yes, its the only MMO ive played where I am happy to pay the monthly fee...blizzard earns it imo with their support. Yes, its easy to not play for a week. I actually take 2-month long break during the summer so I can go camping and to the beach with friends and dont miss it one bit.
