I had played WoW for about 6-7 months in the past, and just 4 months ago I returned. I'm enjoying it to be honest, but it's taking a whole lot of my time. Lately I've been trying to prevent myself from playing it, but this doesn't always succeed. Since I started playing it again, I haven't beat ANY other games, and I very very rarely play anything besides WoW, compared to when I didn't play it, when all my gaming time was devoted to other games. Now not only my gaming time is devoted only to WoW, but also a lot of my time of which I'm supposed to be doing something else. Since I returned to it I've started socializing even less than I normally do. I was just starting to socialize more which is a moment I've waited for my entire life, and WoW kinda ruined it...

Do you guys think I should just uninstall that damn thing from my PC and quit it for good? It's kinda hard for me though...

Use the parental controls option.

You can limit your gaming time that way.

If you seriously don't have enough self control to stop playing a video game, you should seek help.

Also, phone up Blizzard and ask them to permanently cancel your account. When you cancel it on Bnet it doesn't actually get deleted. It's just reactivated the next time you try to log in.

I guess I really don't have enough self-control... I'm already getting help though. And you're right, I guess, WoW didn't ruin it, I'm the one that did, perhaps by starting to play that game again...

If general if you cannot limit your own playing time, it's much more healthy to just quit.

Just a quick tip, don't post about "getting help" here. There are far too many idiots on this board.

I don't know how old you are (I'm 46), and all I can say is if your young get out and enjoy yourself with friends because when you get older things change. Responsibilities such as work, bills, college, etc.., will put a big damper on having fun and enjoying life without having to worry about responsibilities. I love gaming even now, but my time to do so is limited do to all those things plus my family. Video games will always be around, but youth goes away, ENJOY IT,

I seriously think you're very right. I'm 21 now. To be honest, and I don't want to lie to myself, I do really feel that I'm wasting my life and youth. You're right, I will just quit that game, just like the previous time I did. It wasn't all that hard after all...

That is probablly for the best, I know that for some, taking it slowly works better. But if you can just shut it off like that, that is great too :)

Find other things that interest so can share your time. Any game i get tired of playing after about 2hrs but that could be because i'm 44. My main hobbies are walking and biking and i ride almost everyday.

So World Of Warcraft has claimed another victim. Look, its not fault, but that doesn't matter cause you're still the one whos gotta fix this. Call a friend and reconnect with society.

I see many people here on GameSpot are against WoW. Not exactly against WoW, I mean they don't think it's a good idea to play it. I will go with your advice. Thank you all, guys. :)

Usually I don't play a game for more than 2 hours straight but the case is totally different with WoW. Way, way different.

I think a lot of us have gotten hooked to it so we get it. You just HAVE to be able to put it down and not let it control you. If you can't do that then you need to stay away from it.

I get it because I got way too far into the game. Now I'm so burnt out on it I can walk away if I need to. :)

I started playing for the first time a couple months ago and after the first month I quit. Came to a realization that spending my time playing WoW was leading me nowhere, but into the ground. I love playing games but there is a point in time where it becomes too much and you gotta take a break.

EDIT: Also if you have to ask that question its probably a yes

From your story, it sounds like you're at a good point just to quit. Make sure it's a statement to yourself though. You're in control. Uninstall the game.

Don't let these people tell you to quit. They don't know what they're talking about. Your social life is actually ruining your gaming life. Its a good time to start thinking about how you want to live your life. You could end up never being able to level because your friends are always wanting to "hangout" which is lame and you actually need to be playing that new game that came out. Its not going to play itself you know.

Delete your characters. You'll probably have no desire to go back to the game if you realize you have to start from the beginning. If you can't do it yourself, aska friend or family member to do it for you.

Honestly just quit, you will love yourself for it in the long run. My suggestion is to pick up a game like Spiral Knights, it is a free to play game that lets you play so much per day for free and then charges you to play more (I haven't actually played it so I can't explain exactly how it works, but it sounds perfect for you).

I've never played WoW but just try to control your gaming habits. If they really get in the way of your life and take away some of your happiness perhaps it's time to take a break from gaming all together. To be honest though you don't need to quit, just balance games with your social life.

I never new what it felt like to be addicted to WOW it was always numb to me, it's silly to run around as a monster. It just feels dumb and unrealistic to be something than i really am. The who franchise revolves around this promise and it makes me think the serial killer kids are more likely to come off this type of game them COD.

I think you should quit until you get other things in line with what you'd expect of your lifestyle and routine. If it has been bothering you this much that you had to bring this up for discussion, then it's probably best you stay away until you can find a balance. World of Warcraft doesn't ruin and disrupt people's lives, people mess up their own lives as with anything else they become obsessed with. As always, in moderation..

I, too, played WoW diligently for 14 months, then I up and quit and sold my account. Not because the game wasn't fun and enjoyable, but because I have a obsessive personality when it comes to certain things.  As I got older, I play less games and I'm often bored of games for unexplained reasons, like MMOs.

You sound young, but I could be wrong. If you are in high school or college (or after that), a healthy social life, with family and friends, and less time in front of computer devoted to one game might be wise.  My cousin who's in college, found a nice balance (with World of Warcraft, school life and family/friends) but then again, his personality is probably different from some of us.

Bah, if you enjoy it keep playing. You will get tired of it sooner or later. Why would you force yourself to do something you enjoy less?

Edit: Also lulz at this "all gamers are fat and will die early" nonsense.

Hopefully at some point with future mmorpgs there will be limits per week on how often a guild can raid .... 2 days I think is what the limit should be per week ...  and as for running dungeons there also should be a limit on how often they can be run.

Healthy gaming can come to mmorpgs if the companies that make them want it to.

DeViLzzz
I think they should limit themselves to 0 days per week. Meaning they should: VANISH altogether! But for me they already did, since I already quit that damn thing. For the last few days I haven't logged in at all and since I posted this thread I didn't even miss it. So that's about a week without WoW. That's the thing with MMORPGs. They tempt you to play and once you get into them it's so hard to leave them. BUT, fortunately, when you leave them for a few days to weeks, you start getting withdrawal symptoms. And that's what's happening with me now. And I'm so happy it is. Come to think of it, what's the point in playing a game that literally never ends?

Especialy one that isn't even fun.

[QUOTE="FelipeInside"] Overweight issues which leads to diabetes which leads to early death FelipeInside

Sounds like an eating disorder not a video game addiction.

Video game addiction leads to no exercise which leads to eating disorder which leads to overweight issues

How does no excercise lead to an eating disorder? More excercise burns more calories which makes you hungry. sitting around doesnt make you hungry. and just because you play all the time doesnt mean you dont excercise. lol idk where we are going with this lmao

Your post isn't fun. And you ask also why you get moderated, right? You should shut up more often and stop doing stupid blogs.
