Even in an age of multiformat releases the PC version of the games are really good. COD4, UTIII, Gears of War, bioshocketc etc

Plus you get the exclusives Crysis, World In Conflict, ET Quake Wars etc

And the big reason i am not playing console games anymore, that damned controller. prefer a mouse and keyboard

And for me since i like my Simulations like (Flight Simulator X, GTR2, IL2, Lock On) and RTS games its the PC all the way

Depends on what you like more. Right now PC is making a comeback. With the introductions of new mid range cards you could build a rig for around 700 bucks that would crush a console grahics wise, plus you can do more with a PC, but if you want an easy way to play games that is cheap go with console.

If you've got 1500$ for a great computer, go ahead and get it. If you've got 500$, go for consoles. If you've got less than 250$, then you're screwed.

I would be willing to spend $2000.

That 2000 australian dollars, i don't know how much that would equate to if you converted it into the ruble...

Consoles are fine for me (I never own a console though)

However, PC Gaming is better for me cause it got a wider choice.

If you can't afford a new pc every 5 years (the time u should chg pc for gaming), just go for consoles.

Get a new PC if you have the money. If not, consoles are a great alternative. I'd go for a new PC though. There's just an insane amount of great PC-games out there.

If your really scratching your head over this, then go ahead and get a console. It's for the best.

I look at your setup and it just raises more questions. Did you buy that in the 90s? You cant seriously be trying to game on that machine, it's more than old. It's ancient. Not to mention that the Os your using wouldnt be able to run any directx based game released this year even if you DO meet the system requirements.

Yeah I did get this computer in the late 90s but I was still able to play the Orange Box. Though the forest sequence lagged to the point where I couldn't really enjoy it as I would have liked.

even though i love my xbox360, my best gaming experiences in the past 5 years have nearly all been on the pc. recently upgraded to a superduper powerhouse of a pc and it destroys my 360, crysis in particular is just on another planet and feels truly next gen. upgrade your pc pal

For that kind of budget, whether it's AU dollars or not and whether you build it yourself, buy the parts and have someone build it for you or purchase a pre-built system, you'll still be much farther ahead than going with a console.

if you need help with building a pc, go to newegg (below) and take a look at the wishlist. find one that received decent reviews, go to the hardware forum here on gamespot, get an ok (and/or suggestions) from us, buy the items, and look for a guide online. there are so many out there that i'm not going to even recommend one. it depends on how you best follow instructions (some have pictures, some don't, etc.). but the best way to do this is to get help from a friend who has built one himself if you've never built one before. or you can give it to a computer store and ask them to assemble it; i think newegg offers this too, though i'm not sure. i doubt it'll cost that much (maybe $100-200?). dell xps gaming computers are good, as ps2stony suggested. they'll cost you about $500-1000 more though for the same components. and dell makes it hard to upgrade, especially if you're looking to upgrade more than just graphics card and power supply.

PC gaming is kind of like a Ferrari(or any fast car) stuck in a parking lot. Sure it looks cool and can go fast but whats the point if you can't go anywhere? PC hardware will always be the best but until some good PC exclusives come out i will stay with consoles for now. I have a good PC tho(in sig).

The question you should ask yourself is how much more or less do you prefer PC gaming over console gaming.

lol. yeah, ok, not for me, but it is the most popular game of all time (except sims). i have sims (+ 3 expansions), and i liked it for about a week. i haven't played sims 2, but i hear it's not bad. i wouldn't get it, unless they sell all the expansions with original game for $20. which they will, in about a year.

I'd go for an 8800 GT instead of a gts and get 4 gigs of RAM as well as 64 bit Vista. You'll get more help on PC Hardware discussion.

it's ok, though a bit...weird to see ibuypower pc on newegg (you could just get it direct from ibuypower). the gts is really obsolete, now that the gt is out. the rest of the parts are good, but you could build the same exact thing (with a gt instead of a gts and a better case) for about $1200.

haha! yeah, i stuck that one in at the very last second. i did a significant pause afterwards. and then i said, f*** it, and i pressed submit.

i guess i just wanted to name one more game, and i couldn't think of one at that time. heh.

Why worry about playing the new games when the library of old ones is so spectacular? And I highly doubt you've played all the old PC games. With a console you will still be spending a large chunk of change for little return when you have to buy into an entirely new and underdeveloped library.

Why give up the more versatile platform?

umm... crysis? civ 4? witcher? wic? supreme commander? nwn2? stalker? coh? medieval 2? galactic civ? bg2 + tob? wow? guild wars? lotr: soa? sims 2?

and many, many, many more.

What about games coming in 08? and games that can run on almost every system?Tired of games looking like Crysis and turning to my PC saying ''Is it up for the task?''.

sorry, i didn't see your response until now. if you want to play crysis and all the graphics-intensive games in 08, get a ferrari. but that's a whole nother argument that you're making from your original, which was that there aren't any good pc exclusive games. and in your case, with your pc, every game that i listed will run well on your pc, save for crysis (and even crysis you should be able to run on medium, at the least).

Sir, what do you think of this grand machine here:

The GPU seems to be the weak link with cards like the 8800GT and the 3870 out now and doesn't list the brand of the PSU or memory ....But just as a compairsion try taking all the parts listed in that system, look them up separately on Newegg and see what cost you come up with. If your not comfortable with building a system yourself, add around another 100-150 dollars to that total, which should more than cover that cost of having someone build it for you and see what you come up with.....You may be able to save some money and end up with an equal or even better system.

Why worry about playing the new games when the library of old ones is so spectacular? And I highly doubt you've played all the old PC games. With a console you will still be spending a large chunk of change for little return when you have to buy into an entirely new and underdeveloped library.

Why give up the more versatile platform?foxhound_fox

Good point.

Get a new PC! I built mine with the money from my summer job and it kicks any consoles ass + I will be able to play 80% of the good console games on it sooner or later.

I do have a Wii and might even get a PS3 next summer, im no fanboy, but I say if there is one to get its the PC.

I would get a 8800GT for the video card, unless you want to spend more. You certainly have a nice budget, but you can save so;me money on the DVD burner, mine was 35 bucks and is sata and 20x. other than that, looks nice, have fun.

ok, i'm not the most knowledgable on hardware (i just know enough to build/upgrade), but i think the g92 is a gpu core that's featured in the 8800gt. and that outperforms the current gts and is almost but not quite equal to the gtx. now, the new gts featuring the g92 will be released pretty soon. when? i don't know. how much? there's a lot of speculation, but i think it'll be around $300. as of now, the 8800gt is the best bang for the buck.
