OP: Welcome to the glorious world of having a too damn slow PC. I was where you are now a while ago, and I can tell you, I think I might actually have rather stayed there then upgrade and play Crysis. Because honestly, I can show you 16 color games that have infinitely more gameplay value then Crysis.
www.abandonia.comis your friend, so are the fond memories and disc's of games you played a long time ago.

Yes, because God knows Crysis is the only game you can play to better effect now, right? Come on, now.
Anyway, I agree about playing older games too, though. Never forget the c l a s s i c s (damn it, Gamespot), I say, especially not with many of them being freeware/abandonware and with DOSBox on the scene.

Yeah I acquired a copy of System Shock 2 recently. Its pretty deep and difficult - I reckon the visuals are still better than San Andreas which I actually bought recently lol.
whoever says less money is stupid, you're going to be paying for all these bulls*** accesories that shouldve come with the console in the first place but cost a fortune, a goddamn hdmi cable that doesnt even come with your console in some cases, a good hdtv, and 60-70$ games, while ALL you need for a pc is 1500$ for everything including kewl periferals and games cost 40-50$, and are better.
If you want to depend and stick to one corporation to control what you play on the sheep360, fine then. I personally cant stand the limitations of being on one side of gaming. Owning a PC and a PS3 (that I just mainly look at all day doing nothing on it), I'm already on both sides of the fence so to speak, but getting one console will severly impact what you can or cannot play, and you pretty much have to abide by what the console maker wants you to do.
pc gaming is complete freedom, and if you can afford a midrange computer, i donno anyone sane that would give that up.
The thing is it's a hard choice. A console is more expensive in the long run (everything costs more, games, downloadable content, online play.... but it's free on pc)but everything is garenteed to work. A pc isn't garenteed to play the games but it is cheeper and get more things for free. Also keep in mind the kind of games you want to play. PC is amazing for rts and mmo but weaker then a console for rpg, fps, tps. Choose which games you want to play more, buy accordingly.jrabbit99
wait what, i was agreeing with everything you said until i read "pc weaker than a console for fps,tps"...umm how??
I read many good points, but...
I dare you. Go buy a console and finds for yourself. Just plan, from the start, that in a few months you will be crying like a baby and coming back. So you will needs money to buy a new computer. Just plans it that way (maybe you would have to settle with a PS2 instead of a PS3, or a Xbox instead of a 360...or maybe you can afford a big liner).
If you are happy with the console and never wants to come back, our lost. If you do come back, at least you got to try. You see out there why PC games are that good, you see it for yourself, not because some geek on a forum told you so.
Nothing anyone here would say could dispel any doubt you have but first contact experience.I have BOTH. And I wouldn't want to miss either. However, if I have to pick only one, it would be a PC, no matter how old.
Again, if you have doubts...you should consider trying both. Just plan, that you will almost certainly want to come back to the PC in a few months.
See, the best doesn't beg on it knees to keep you. It show you the competition and open wide it arms for when you will come back. Cause I know, you will be back. Consoles games are nices, but often less developped, often they have less content, less options, less gameplays... and less titles to offer. RPGs and Strategies games on consoles are...limited to say the least. And actions-oriented games usually have less maps, less expensions, less players-built scenarios. But consoles have 1 big edge, the game are usually balanced and play tested a lot better then PC games, since they only have 1 setting to test. So what do you want, versatility(PC) or reliabality (Consoles)? And are arcades/actions/sports games all you want(Consolesare extremely limited outsideof these)?
PC gaming is kind of like a Ferrari(or any fast car) stuck in a parking lot. Sure it looks cool and can go fast but whats the point if you can't go anywhere? PC hardware will always be the best but until some good PC exclusives come out i will stay with consoles for now. I have a good PC tho(in sig).DarxPhil
PC gets more and better games every year..
but everything is garenteed to work.jrabbit99
Um, no. It just has a better chance of working, or never ever working right no matter what you do (unlike PC). You also hope that they tested the environment entirely because patching bugs/ballancingrequires online access. My first copy of Oblivion on my 360 locked up quite often. I got a new copy on the road because I forgot it at home, and that newer version worked fine. I've had consoles in the past that games were released that didn't work on earlier firmware versions of the console.
OP: PC gaming is where it is at, and will be unless some new form of technology comes out that cannot be emulated on a PC.
DON'T DO IT, IT'S A TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!brewskinator
YES! The console army have done everything in their power, including a propaganda campaign and millions on dollars, to try and lure the number one poster boy for PC gaming into their den! It is probably little more than a ploy to have me capture once more and then sentenced before a high court to be placed on Dancing with the Stars or even worse as a replacement to either Buzz or Master Chef. That is his name isn't it? Master Chef? I suspect this Halo fad is something like a series of mini games based around cooking with a character name like that....correct me if I'm wrong anyone...
Here are my current specifications:
1.2 GHZ
576 RAM
Windows 2K.
GeforceFX 5700.
I cannot play any of the latest games. No not even Crysis. Should I buy a new computer or travel to the Console City (like in Matrix Revolutions) and live out my days there?
biggest_loser
Listen dude. If you have enough money for an Xbox 360, you can buy a gaming computer that can max out any game to date with great performance. I bought my upgrade (basically a new computer) for $413. Yes, only $413. Which, in truth, is better than getting a brand new Xbox 360 that will die on you. I'm on my 4th Xbox 360 right now.
Radeon x1950 Pro: $145
AMD Athlon 2x 64-bit 4600+ Processor: $119
I forget exactly how much I paid for my RAM and Motherboard, but it was all for around $150 total.
Though, if you do buy a console, get a Playstation 3. They're much more stable than the Suxbox 360 that Microsoft rips you off with. Besides...2008 is going to be a really good year for the PS3.
But really, take my advice. Custom build your computer, be happy. You can message me for help on buying the parts.

Are you sure thats all? With the next one you get maybe you should add some much needed security. I have heard cases about hobos coming into people's houses at night and attempting to uhhhh....well....mark 360's as their own, mark their territory, etc. So the next time Billy the Bumb or Teddy the Tramp tries to get his equipment out on your 360 maybe have a few of the following surprises ready for him:
1. Master Chef from the cooking mini game Halo waiting for a meat cleaver.
2. The undead guard dogs from Resident Evil ready to bite him on the youknowhat and not require you to feed them.
3. Tiberian Sun laser beams ready to shoot it off.
4. Those unstable sentry guns from HL2.
5. A group of homies from San Andreas - though they may have the tendency to just run into your walls and around in circles.
6. A shark with a laser cannon strapped to it.
7. A portal so that when he steps through the backdoor trying to get to the console he'll back teleported over a lava pit.
8. Maybe one of those circular blades from HL2 ready to cut him half and then you can watch him crawl around the room, looking for his hobo legs.
9. Maybe you could have a group of lawyers that will send him into madness by pestering him to try and sue the makers of Condemned for violence against hobos.
10. Get a hive and take all the bugs from the Witcher and then put them inside the hive and leave it on top of the door so that when he walks in it will fall on him and cover him with the pests. This way he'll keep crashing into things and his english will be completely broken when he tries to scream for help.
OP, go to www.digitalstormonline.com and may you find happiness in the ranks of PC Gamers :DForerunner-117
Geez that site isn't bad at all! Thanks!! The Twister Pro sure looks good. Though if i convert its price into AU dollars then it works out at basically the same as what my original plan does.

Yup! No problem! That's where I just bought my new rig and man! I'm sure happy with it! Just got Crysis yesterday and have been playing with all settings on High :D But yeah as I'm sure you noticed, you can configure the builds that they have shown to pretty much anything you want.

I would like to know how your x1950pro is going to max out "any game to date with great performance". Magic? Or a really low res?
Is it really true that you can now get Dx10 on XP? If it does I guess there is no point in Vista. I'm really confused about this now biggest_loser
Technically,No. You cant get DX10 on XP, but people have found ways to get it in games like Crysis. They just moved some files around.
I don't think you ever really say goodbye to your PC, but it is slowly being eclipsed by consoles. Face it I could have bought Bioshock for PC and had to patch and play with settings and hope and pray it works well. Instead I bought it on 360 and it ran flawlessly and I had an uninterrupted gaming experience. All the hardware folks on here argueing about what card is best are PC purists and have awesome rigs. You cannot get an awesome rig that will be awesome next year for the amount that you will pay for a console. Console games always get better the longer the life of the console. PC games just up requirements forcing you to by more gear. PC gamingis for people who have disposable incomes. Now that I have a baby, less time, and less disposable income, consoles make more sense, especially since the quality of games have jumped dramatically. Mass effect is one of the best RPG's I have played, COD 4 was beautiful and ran great on my 360, I could go on. Five years ago I would have said no way would I have jumped ship to consoles, but now days with the direction games are going it's only a matter of time before the PC market shrinks due to the ease of use that consoles present. Good luck with your decision.Cabal23
Yeah but you dont get the downloadable content with console games and you can use a computer for so much more than just gaming. Email, video editing, music, movies, the internet, reading about corrupt game reviewing sites. The console system is not flawles. We've heard plenty of stories about them crashing. Some guy here has had to buy 4 Xbox 360's. and look at the poor ol' orange box released on ps3 - horrible frame rate issues. You can't tell me that console games don't crash and what not. Not to mention you don't get the graphical options that the pc has, like extra high resolutions and like i said downloadable content, mods, etc. I don't think the PC industry is going to shrink my friend. That is one lesson you will learn today and be able to pass down to your child...farewell my friend...
I am not being a console fan boy, but 360 has downloadable content. I just forsee people not sitting at a computer in the future. I see people doing everything from the comfort of their couch. Already paper thin keyboards are in production. I misspoke when I said the pc market will shrink, I just think it will merge with the console market. People will compose email from the couch with giant flatscreens on their wall. Slowly the family tv will be the center of life(as if it wasn't already)I think the guy who said if you have $2k get a pc and if you have $500 get a console was smack on the money. We will see what the future holds.
How universal is this site I mean I live in sweden can I still buy a pc there?stenfisk
Well there are many people on the forums from the UK and they order their computers fine :) So I'm pretty sure that you could order a comp from there if you wanted to. But just go ask in their forums to make sure. The people that work at Digital Storm actually visit the forums very frequently so you can actually talk to them! :D

Well 360's crash here and there. Just depends on how you treat them. Lots of things can go wrong with a PC, it is just that most people here take good care of there PC's like they should with there consoles. I have also have a PS3 and haven't had any framerate problems(besides a little in Heavely Sword). PC may have the graphics but until we can see more games. Console will always be on top.
Console will always be on top.
Maybe when it comes to sales, but there are other factors to consider. No console (especially no current gen console) has the same amount of fantastic games as the PC. In the end it's all about games, and the PC-platform has more of them than 360/PS3 can ever dream of. I love my 360, btw, but the PC does have more to offer when it comes to great content, no fanboyism here, it's just the way it is.
