The answer you got from Lox in your other thread is the best answer you will get. If it were me, I would have upgraded a first gen Phenom long before now, but if you're not seeing a reason to upgrade, why do it?

If you're willing go for it. Of course that means a change in motherboard too. If you wanna overclock at all though go i5-2500K

if you can still run everything your doing now fine then just wait for haswell, that will be much more future proofed for new games that arent avaliable yet.

I'd say go for the 3rd gen i5, that thing is a monster. Keep in mind though you'll need a Z77 motherboard to go with it, which is about $100-$150.

If you're waiting for Haswell, just buy an i5-2500k, with a decent to good motherboard. You'll run every game out there, granted you pair it up with a great GPU. Again, if you don't see any problems while running your games now, why upgrade? There will always be a bottleneck. Now, if you came into this thread and you had a dual-core or an FX-4100, I would tell you to upgrade.

For some reason, I was reading his spec as a core 2 quad. I apologize for that mix up. Yeah, he can pretty much go to anything newer and be better off, but the FX-4100 and 4170 are terrible, imho. He's better off upgrading to phenom II X4 or X6, or i5-2500k.

atm yes i agree. in the future when fewer x4's and x6 phenom II's are around id say go zambezi over alternatives if your on a budget.

also why do folks keep making fun of phenom fx calling it bulldozer it a codename for a whole set of lineups. sumo (successor to brazos 2.0) is a bulldozer family apu. and llano is a relative of the bulldozer cpu families. its zambezi which i the faliure

Yup. The Zambezi is a complete failure.
