i have a Visiontek ATI HD 3870! and was wonder if it would be worth upgrading to a newer card! or would crossfireing it with second card be better??

IMO, you should keep what you've got and save up for a second gen DX11 card... If you can't wait, go the cheap route and crossfire...-GeordiLaForge-DX11 is an invalid point since DX10 doesn't have ONE game that uses all of it. (so no TRUE DX10 games yet) I would wait until DX11 is a Stable and affordable option. You do not need to upgrade but within the next two months a crossfire set up isn't that bad of an idea.

What is your current PC? What monitor and resolution do you play with? What kind of games do you play and what settings do they currently run on?

Using this method, 3D models use about 10x less memory, while achieving the same results. I agree with you though. Throw in another 3870 for crossfire if the need arises in the next year. I'm personally sticking with my DX9 SLI setup for another year. Two 512mb 7950gt's...
