Yes? no?
why?
There was a discussion I had with my friends about this.

so im torn in deciding whether I should close this thread down or just continue to let the questions roll in. will the game be well received if it was ported though? I thought you PC gamers didn't like your games to be ported?TsuanthonyPC gamers generally don't like their games to be ported from console to PC, or to have the PC version of a multiplat be gimped because of the console versions. Witcher 2 is already released on PC.
Yes. The game is amazing, bringing it to consoles would allow CD Project to expand their audience, gain more experience, and sell more copies. There is no real reason as to why people wouldn't want this unless it causes CD to drop support for the PC market, which based off of CD Project's attitude and their relationship with the community, i don't think will happen.ferret-gamer
Just like Crytek...???
I dont see the harm in porting an already released PC game to consoles, tho i think we should get something in return...*cough*L.A. Noire*cough*marcl18123Rockstar owns LA Noire. Anyways, I know what you mean. LA Noire on the PC would be nice. As long as CDP builds the game ground up on PC, and then ports them to the consoles, I'll be fine with that. I'd like to believe that CDP is one of the last and few great PC game developers. I'd hate to see them go that route but they need the money. It would help them expand The Witcher Universe and get the game into more people's hands. Not enough people know about this great franchise.
Will porting the game cause any long term damage in the future for the devs or the game? Idk I'm mostly a PS3 user. I'd like a port but I find myself thinking like a PC fanboy, refusing for the game to be ported to consoles. Tsuanthony
You wouldn't like to think so... but Crytek has changed a bit when they decided to go multi-platform as an example...

And that didn't go so well. I was very disappointed with Crysis 2. Needless to say, that's for a whole 'nother thread.exactly and with the current waning state of PC gaming, that's the last thing any PC gamer would want :\ TsuanthonyEh, what waning state? 2011 is one of the best years ever for PC gamers. I just selfishly want Witcher 3 as soon as possible.

I just selfishly want Witcher 3 as soon as possible. Same here. I'm already going through TW2 withdrawals. I can't stand it. I feel irritated, almost. If only they would translate the other Witcher books... grrr.. I need more Witcher, anything!

mmmm. I hope they never leave us, or go console first.Quite frankly I hope that it does get ported and that its so succesful that other companies start thinking that maybe making a game on PC and then porting it to consoles is a good way to go. They make a game they envisioned and then lightly strip something off so its playable on consoles, instead of working within the very limited boundries of the consoles and making increasingly shorter and easier games.
The game has already been built to work really well with a 360 controller so i don't see a problem with it
Evz0rz
Getting it to run on such crappy hardware is the problem! :P
IMO, only if we get some console exclusives. Only a fair trade. I'd take LA Noire, MK9, recent MGS games, Uncharted, and Gears 3.
What? Thats not too much to ask for. TW2 is easily worth all of that :P
I don't really care if they port it or not, but if they did I would hope it would keep everything intact and still be the very adult game it is.
as long as the pc version comes first and doesn't suffer from a console port, the more people who get to play it the better.
There is a "sticky" for all things Witcher As for the question... I have yet to play it, but can the controls be translated to a controller? If so, then I don't see why not...FelipeInsideThere is already a setting for a gamepad. I play with a XBOX 360 controler and it works great. This is the one thing that I think "hardcore PC gamers get so bung up on. You dont NEED M/KB to play PC games. Controlers work just fine for a large portion of games. Especially a game like Witcher 2.
there are barely any games actually ported from console to pc, 90% are just multiplat shooters admittedly held back by console. People dont even know what a port is, made obvious when they use the term console port when the ps3 and xbox 360 are very different. Are all ps3 games just xbox 360 ports?as long as the pc version comes first and doesn't suffer from a console port, the more people who get to play it the better.

I think it already has been confirmed the witcher 2 will be going to consoles some time in the future. As long as the pc verision in the future is the lead build, i honestly don't care
As long as their lead platform is the PC then I would love them to port it to consoles, more sales = more budget for sequels!
Yes it should be released for consoles, all should be able to play this game. Hopefully consoles get more smooth DLC download/installer system ...

Then you'll be going by your sig.
Somebody prove to me that multiplatform gaming is good for PC. Almost every former PC exlusive game has been dumbed and gimped thanks to consoles.
Yes it should, I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play great games no matter what platform they own, and i also think makers of great games should make maximum profit for bringing us these great games. What better way to do that then to offer it to a wider audience?
Also I hate it when companies like Microsoft buy up exclusive rights on games in order to sell their platform. Its greedy and I doubt it really benefits the developers in the long run. ( Remedy/Alan Wake, Lionhead/Fable 3 ) As long as great PC games stay great PC games and dont end up consolised then im all for great PC games being great for console gamers too.
anyways I apologize to the Mods for not paying any attention to the Offical Witcher 2 thread. My bad. Tsuanthony
Actually, since you mentioned consoles in a PC Games forum, it should go in System Wars.
Hell yes it should, and you can aleredy tell by playing the game they've planned for it. by the way the combat works now with the radial menu and fighting style + the fist fighting will also be very easy to port over. Lots of little things in the new engine/gameplay design looks like it was made to port.

I thought you PC gamers didn't like your games to be ported?TsuanthonyIf it means more money for the devs and a bigger budget fir the Witcher 3, absolutely yes. If it means the Witcher 3 will be made fir consoles then ported to PC and totally gimped ALA DA2 then absolutely positively NOT!!!!
