You can't prove what I or anyone else wants. Simple.

I don't need to. You know what I said is true. I know you don't really give a rat's ass about how it shows how Gordon's and Alyx's love for each other has advanced; hell, neither would I, which is specifically why I don't want it in there. I have common sensible knowledge of the foremost natures and desires of man (being a man, myself), and that's all I need in order to know that it is in no way feasible that any man would actually significantly or at all care about the portrayal of sex in the scene as a natural thing.

Its a goddamn way of expressing how much they love each other and how far they have come in their relationship!!biggest_loser

I'd also like to chime in on the fact that a sex scene in no way shows two people's love for each other, it shows that they like each other and have sex drives. Can it be an expression of two people's love for one another? Yes, yes it can. But sex, by itself, is not foundationally an expression of true love, though that is what it should only be for. The only thing you could do is infer or assume that the sex is accompanied by love.

Given Gordon's and Alyx's chaotic situation causing emotions to run high and judgement capabilities to be stressed; and given how so extremely little they actually, truly know each other (not to mention their relationship is currently only built on having met under high risk circumstances; never a good sign); common sense tells us that sex between the two of them at this point would be nothing more than a show of passion brought on by their attraction and liking for each other, their frayed nerves and rampant emotions, and possibly the distortion in judgement that they have real love for each other caused by the high risk circumstances in which they have had to work with, look out for, and care for one another. In other words, you can't infer or assume the sex is acompanied by love, because all signs suggest the opposite.

This is not to say they aren't right for each other, or that they can't have true love in the future. It is to say that their relationship is far too premature for sex to be a reflection of either possibilities.

What was the point of the above two paragraphs? The point was that now your argument that it is an expression of their love for each other also falls flat because they don't have real love yet. This means that your reason for wanting the sex scene cannot be to show a realistic depiction of love.

Furthermore, if such a depiction were what you really wanted and the interest provided by watching and/or hearing two fictional (and digitally realized) people have sex had nothing to do with it, then you would be fine with the idea of just "they smooch and the screen fades out with the implication of sex," to paraphrase some above suggestions. But it's apparent that you aren't, and thus is your claim that the depiction itself is a reason made clearly false. Further statements by you also make it crystal clear why you really want it, an example of which is below.

I meant that if you think the fact that Mafia and Max Payne 2 have a sex scene justifies a desire to have a sex scene in Half-Life 2, then you can justify a desire to have a sex scene in every game with a love interest of the protagonist. If you want a sex scene in a game like HL2 and think it should be okay just because other games have done it, you might as well want a sex scene in every last game with a protagonist who has a love interest.

This I know. Max Payne is very different from Half-Life. I personally hated the Max Payne storyline and had no intrest whatsoever. Now being that Max Payne isn't anywhere near as popular as Half-Life, it's understandable that something like that could be thrown into the story and no one would care. I'm not saying that it's wrong to have sex in video games, and it's appropriate for some storylines, but do you really think that Valve would completely blow everything we know as Half-Life so that there can be a 10 second scene of them having sex? I don't recall there being any cut scenes with Gordon and I don't think that in that way it would be best to present him for the first time.

It wouldn't spoil Half-Life 1, and it wouldn't necessarily spoil the series, but it would definitely mar it. There are games out there in which sex scenes fit, and there are games that don't, and a game from the HL series is the latter. There is no reason to have the sex scene in a game series that's never had anything remotely relative to such a thing other than to please the less mature fans' sexual desires. It can't be done for realism andit can't be done for advancements in gaming, for reasons I've already gone over. So if it was added, it would be insulting for a game of the infamous HL franchise to stoop as low as to appease sexual desires to gain extra praise from a less mature audience (also garnering a much more intense disapproval over that aspect from the more mature). Half-Life doesn't need a sex scene to be great, and the sex scene isn't needed for any valid reason, therefore it doesn't need to exist.
