^^ But weren't those all addressed with the 8-9 Patches that have come out? I remember reading about the patches as they were released and what each did. I know for sure the traffic and water thing was fixed, I've never seen buildings randomly shooting out of the ground though... My wife plays Sim City and although she mentions it has issues, she has also said they have fixed a lot of them. http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-update-8FelipeInside

/r/simcity, is like a trainwreck of failures of the game, if you read it often.  The only thing good coming from this garbage game is the pretty screenshots at low angles

I love EA's response.  So, so, clueless. The real reason people hate EA (drum roll).....homophobia.   Of course that's it!  Seriously, you can't make this crap up.

"Moore contends that EAs decision to allow users to create lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) characters in some of its games has resulted in a voting campaign orchestrated by those opposed to portrayals of LGBT characters in games."

"In the past year, we have received thousands of emails and postcards protesting against EA for allowing players to create LGBT characters in our games. This week, were seeing posts on conservative web sites urging people to protest our LGBT policy by voting EA the Worst Company in America."

I don't see any control being taken away from the gamer. I think it's good when a decision you make in a game STICKS, and you don't have the luxury of a saved game to go back on it. Makes it more realistic.FelipeInside
There are games where this holds true more than others, and Simcity is not one of them.  Its fun doesn't rest entirely in its realism, a large part of the fun is found in the freedom of being able to experiment with whether something will work or not.  The player was unbound, and now that freedom is removed.  What fun is destroying your city with disasters when you have to rebuild it all up again when all you could've done was just reload?  Hell, why not just plan out your city on paper before creating it in-game?

Well. I guess we disagree on that one. I think a game like SimCity is perfect for "make a decision and it's final", since it is after all a City Simulator. As for trying things out, you can just create a test city.

And yet the game has zero challenge to it, unless you count the bugs and fake simulation as a challenge.  You could zone an entire map in residential and have it grow and prosper in an hour and laugh your way to the bank.  My SimCity 4 regions can take days or weeks to grow and require planning ahead of time.  I usually draw them out on paper before starting.

I can't comment on the "challenge" since I don't play the game, I'm just commenting on the actual "idea" of decision stick. More games should implement this since in most of them a decision doesn't really matter when you can just reload a saved game. Back to Sim City though, my wife has always issues raising money and pulling the city forward. Is she doing something wrong or just a bad player?

You can't make an 'all in one city' like all the previous sim city games needed. You can only focus on one thing per city if you want to succeed...another failing of SC 2013.  Focus on industry in one town, tourism in another, etc.  It's really dumb.

It's reality, a lot of important cities in this world can only do one thing and rely on transportation and other things from other cities that are specialized on those things. Work of art and closer to realitySomething dumb, that relies on continuous spam of highly efficient identical sections. Anno is the only series in between, because Anno games offer limitations due to island sizes and also available resources, but it didn't take it as far as it should.

They didn't shoot themselves in the foot, they shot themselves in the face. The amount of bad press over this has the be getting some attention in the upper rungs of EA, but then again, maybe they just don't care. They did get their money, after all.

Thats not really 100% true, I have one city that sells oil, coal, has a casino and also is a university city with a mix of residential industry and commercial.

Might not be as big as I would like, but its not like you sit there and say "ok this city will have NO commercial and only will ahve residential and a university".

On one of my regions I have all my cities a mix of things (everything) and my other region its all cities like you said commercial in one, industry in other,etc.. I did this just to try it out.

It is possible to do a mix of everything if you want to and if you have the skill to do it.

Don't get my wrong my biggest issue is the small sizes of the maps and I hope that gets fixed, but the whole thing you said about if you want to succed you have to do it a certain way, thats not 100% true.

Yes you cant make cities as big as simcity4, a game which I have loved to death for many years, but I had to say somethign when you wrote "you can only focus on one thing per city if you want to succed" that is not right at all from the 60+ hours Ive put into the game. In my best region I have one city that does a bit of everything and does very well.

I think they're smart enough to realize that this has hurt them IMMENSELY in the long run. Sure, the short term gains are good. But there are now many people who will actively boycott EA games because of this whole mess.

[QUOTE="DanielDust"] Very Not a single bug, not a single thing not working properly, all the complaints I randomly read about it are from excessively stupid people, like "pollution destroys my entire city" (there are ways to regenerate), lot ran out of water my city is ruined (water is unlimited, you have to think how you can manage water "production") and other stupid things like that, the only valid complaint is the city size, some like it some don't, I adore it, because I can admire the variation of the buildings and it's also easier to manage the kind of things you want, one starter city, then dedicated production city, utility city then there's no reason not to go crazy and work on some awesome designs for a strict tourist city and so on, if it were a complete deal I would have just thought of a basic layout and I would have spammed certain things that work as best as possible "like anyone would", I'm tired of such games, all city builders before SC 2013 work like that.wis3boi

Honest question, have you even tried this game? That was fixed in an patch...

I have had zero crashes, zero issues with servers or cities since the launch week. There is some balance issues left, but they ahv ereleased a godo amount of updates so far and fixed alot, not everything but its far from a buggy mess now. During launch week yes, not so much now.

Far from perfect, but I am having a blast weither its singleplayer or online with some friends working together. If they keep up these good updates and HOPEFULLY add the option for bigger cities it will be even better, the game has improved a good amount since launch week, thanks to fixes like the traffic issue you posted a picture of above.

Yeah I have on my buddy's origin account.  Every time I made a city I got bored in an hour becuase it was too easy or too frustrating with bugs.  That pic is from reddit.com/r/simcity and is recent, so people are still having these issues.  I like the look of the game and the attention to detail in the buildings and the overall environment, I just can't see myself buying it unless it allowed offline play, much much bigger cities, and wasn't based entirely on fake simulation algorithms.

Last week I was at my local store wanting to buy Simcity, now that the launch troubles are all over, but to my surprise it was all sold out. I think the game is still selling well and don't forget a lot of casuals play Simcity too and they don't all look at reviews to have known about the terrible DRM.

[QUOTE="CMNatic"]This is when I start to feel sorry for the coders, they get the blame for the failure when it's actually the smart nugget who came up with it. R4gn4r0k

Agreed, such a shame but the idiot that came up with this DRM will never get fired. Other people will.

EA has done a good job controlling the supply of SimCity. They stopped selling it on Amazon originally and other cd keys online have been in short supply. So they have managed to keep the price up even though there have been many problems.

I have had it in mine u need to build a building partially on a hill, the game levels the land that the building is on out. But sometimes it glitches and raises a mountain where the building is. If the building is deleted the hill also goes
