Is this game worth the 50$? Or will the expansion packs eat my wallet alive? Does the original package give you enough to work with?

There's more content then Sims 2 base game, and custom content is starting to roll in. I'd say it's worth it.

imo, a game is really worth it when i like it, and i happen to like the sims 3. some people say mirror's edge is too short, therefore not worth your money, but i like it so much, i think it's worth every single cent spent on it.

What about stayability? I mean, is this like the other sims where it's awesome for a week or two, but then you realize that it's actually incredibly boring and never play it again?

I've had it since release and still play it often.

I've got twenty of my own creations, wandering about town, and living in homes that I built myself. But really there's no stopping there. I could create another twenty sims, and another ten homes, and just keep going.

All these sims are forming relationships with one another, and working at their life goals, and aging, and - here's the amazing part - having kids and eventually dying. It's a life simulator. I'm pretty much blown away by it. And yet, after two months, I still feel like I'm just scratching the surface

The expansion packs are going to send this game into another dimension.

The first expansion has already been announced. They've basically created new worlds for your sims to explore: you'll be heading off to China, France, and Egypt. The game is a wonder. I love it.

Same crap with 3... Oh look I can walk around town, buy stuff, and wow this is boring...

Its good for a few hours until you realise your sims are having more fun then you.

I wouldn't play it even if it was free, not a fan of the game at all. Much rather play many other games instead.
