Hi,
I just looked at the screens for "Sims 3" and I have no idea what the difference is from Sims 2.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
It has a 3 in the title.
Not familiar with EA's release strategies, huh?
Basically, they change the number each year and then it's #1 in the charts!

oh, i guess that makes scenes. I want it know.
im not wasting my money on a sims game ever again.ag3ntz3rox0x
Same. Except for SimCity 5, if it comes out.

With 100 million copies sold, I think we can safely say that a goodly number of so-called "hardcore" gamers play the Sims as well. Most of them are just too insecure to admit it. It can actually be quite a challenging strategy game, the player just isn't spoon fed goals, they have to set the goals for themselves.
I actually think the Sims 3 isn't going to have nearly the same success as its predecessors, they are tampering with the formula too much. While having an "open world" and simplifying the gameplay sounds good on paper, it's going to disenfrachise a lot of traditional Sims players.BlueBirdTS
Yeah, I can see that happening - it's SimCity Societies all over again. Without Will Wright at the helm, they have no idea what they're doing.
That being said, even if that does happen, it'll still probably top 10m units pretty easily just by being having The Sims in the title. And they can release all the expansions they released for Sims 2 all over again, which will probably at least double the original total - no matter how bad the game is.

Quite true. I'm pretty sure Will Wright wasn't very involved in the Sims 2 either, so EA dosen't necessarily need him to produce a successful game. Let's just hope Spore does well and reinvigorates "sandbox" gameplay.

I played tons of sims 1, I admit it. My favorite thing to do was to invite over neighbors, and then invite the douchebag ones over to a room with a fireplace and a bunch junk in it. I'd leave and then sell the door. Eventually the whole place would be a raging inferno and then I didn't have to worry abou those jerks coming around anymore... until they started haunting me. That sucked. So, then I burned down their tombstones. That didn't seem to help though. My house was so haunted, I'm sure the resale value was nearly the equivalent of a shack in the middle of a ghetto with a landfill in the backyard...
Will Wright is not going to be executive producer.ZuluEcho14
Will Wright wasn't involved with the series since the original game.
Anyway, the big new thing is the open world and more complex character interactions. Should be great fun, I'm definitely looking forward to playing it.
