I want to get a new laptop. After checking through many sites/stores I found that some offer Dual GPU (Either nVidia 7950 GTX or 8600M GT) but I don't really know if it's worth it; having Dual GPU adds around 400+ to the total price. Is it really worth it? Obviously I will be gaming on this laptop. Thanks.

I wouldnt reccomend gaming on a laptop but if you must just get the single card or your battery life is gonna be pretty short.

I take it its for 19x12 resolution. I would do SLI myself. I would rather have the 7950gtx SLI over the 8600M SLI. SLI 7950gtx will net you around 10K in 3dmark06 for sure.

He is talking about dual GPU not SLI, that is not the same thing, I don't think the laptops support SLI(I could be wrong with this)

well if i can afford it then why not theres no doubt that SLiing will increase performance but does that warrant 400 increase for me that would be a "hell no" for someone else that might be a definete yes.

Yes the 7950GX2 is a dual GPU card. But this guy is talking about a 7950 GTX in a laptop. There is no 7950GX2 for laptops. Trust me he is asking about SLI.

I just rechecked and yes, it is SLI. Also, I mistyped there; the other Dual GPU offered is 8700M GT not 8600, sorry.

First off a dual GPU is SLI on 1 card. Which is where Quad SLI comes from if you have 2 of them. You can have a dual GPU setup with no crossfire or SLI ofcourse, but only in desktops.
