Skyrim: how to hot-key.

Just in case anyone playing the game hasn't figured out yet, you can hotkey items/spells in Skyrim by:

1) Favorite an Item/spell;

2) Open up the faovrite menu;

3) Highlight item/spell you want hotkeyed;

4) Press a number.

Apparently a lot of reviewers didn't find out this information. It's available in the Help Menu.

Thanks, just played my first couple hours of the game and its blown me away so far :). Will definitely put this to use after work tomorrow. Trying to do a heavy armor battle mage build with a 2 hand weapon and destruction spells so this should help :).

I was looking for that. Such a pain that I found to switch between magic and weapons :S

Sweet, thanks. I though I was just going to wait for a mod, but I guess there is not need now. Only mod on my list now is fixing the transitions from light to dark (not removing it, but lessening).

How do you pull up the favorites menu? In my controls menu, it says to press "Q" but nothing comes up? Is it bugged?

Edit: My Q button isn't broken obviously! Cry...

It's probably cuz you still haven't added any items to that list ...

So far only 1 thing has dissapointed me ... almost no freaking animals to kill in the world except the quest ones (wolves, bears, deers, rabbits, foxes ) ... the one thing that keeps me on my toes are the traps all around rather than the monsters ...

Probably would be better to focus on one-handed weapons. That way you can keep a destruction spell ready in your off hand.

(I have a battlemage started as well)

Anyone know why my bow keeps unbinding itself when i switch to another bind? Kind of annoying

EDIT: nvm, appears just to be a issue with the hunting bow.

I have the bow not staying bound issue. I read that it's only if you have multiple copies of the same bow.

Another issue I had, that took a while to figure out.. The favorite key is always bound to the 'third person view' key, default F. Firstly, if you change that key, the GUI will still inaccurately say use 'F' to favorite. The ellusive issue is when I changed the 'third person' key to middle mouse click, that key wouldn't work to add an item to favorites. So if you want to use favorites and are having the same issue I was where no key is able to add an item to favorites, make sure you bind the third person key to a keyboard key. I changed it to E and it works fine now :p

This game has the worst UI from Final Fantasy XIV. The HUD is the most beautiful mess ever. Is beautiful but utterly useless.

How is possible that you need to use one key to open a chest and other one different to get out? I was trying to do the most basical things for an hor -like honing the weapons and so- and was for me impossible to do anything. And when is suppossed that you will level up? The game lacks primary or secondary skills has no attributes and every race has the same health, magika and stamina... For such simplistic design approach the UI is terrific.
