I have literally just been stunned. While I was at the Mages Guild in Leyawiin 2 of the members were chatting and mentioned something about an Ogre or elf or something...but then she said this ogre/elf thing was from Skyrim?! I've played through this game 3 times and I have never ever heard anything about Skyrim in this game...Is this from like a new update or something? This is the first time I've ever encountered a character in Oblivion talk about Skyrim.

Skyrim is part of the Elder Scrolls world. It's not just Tamriel or however you spell it.

oh.....woooooooow...I'm so confused now. I thought Morrowind and Cyrodill were the only two...I just googled searced for a map and there's 7 others counting skyrim. Wow...does that mean there's going to be a 7 game series?

You just never thought anything of it because the name had no meaning to you.

Skyrim is mentioned, Morrowind is mentioned, Black marshes are mentioned even Valenwood is mentioned. Which makes sense since Tamriel is surrounded by other countries, which you can see in the Ingame map.

Skyrim is mentioned in Morrowind if you look around and read books. Somewhere in Vivec in that bookstore, if I'm not mistaken.

Just about every Elder Scrolls game mentions the surrounding countries.

Skyrim is a province of Tamriel, and the empire. Oblivion takes place in the province of Cyrodill, which is the center of the empire. Skyrim is where the Nords come from. It's mentioned in the instruction manual for oblivion, a few bits of dialog, and is visible in the game's map. It's very close to Bruma, so I'm sure if you hang around there you'll hear all about it!

The Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind takes place on an island (Solstheim) near Skyrim... it's snowy and full of Nords. Skyrim is not a new creation, but a part of the expansive lore...

Why would this be surprising?

All of the elder scrolls provinces have been established firmly in the lore since the 90's and are consistently mentioned in games.

That in no way means that when bethesda crafted that particular line of dialogue they had a location for the sequel in mind.

There is so much lore in TES that they have written books about it, for me TES series is the best RPG series I've ever played in my whole life. I've even played Daggerfall and I was stunned to see that massive world out there, but it was mostly Randomly Generated but still it was unbelievable. Morrowind was the first TES game I played, and just to sum it up, it shook my world. Then I played Oblivion it was awesome, and now I am waiting for Skyrim.... I just have to confess that I am a TES Junkie..

First off, thanks for not calling me a noob and all kinds of crap...

All I can say is...I never played this game like I should have. It was honestly the first RPG I purchased. For some reason I was just never interested in them. So I really had no idea how to play an RPG. I didn't do all the quests and by the time I beat the game the way I leveled up my character both playthroughs made no sense lmao. Now, I'm taking my time on this (probably the last) playthrough and It's has already been the best playthrough I've had by far. I'm only on the 2nd Mages Guild recommendation, but for some reason I'm just taking it as slow as possible, reading everything, talking to everybody and now in my mature years im realizing the beauty of RPGS. They throw all this stuff in a game and leave it up to you to get what you want out of the game. I was flying through thinking the game wasnt that good story wise. BOY WAS I WRONG! And like I said before it's the simple things like taking the time to read all the books you come across.

I honestly can't believe the fun i'm having. It's like it's brand new.

Very cool, glad you're having fun. ;) I love Oblivion, just as I did Daggerfall and Morrowind. It gets panned a lot by the community, but I truly believe it to be one of the best games ever, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I've probably spent a thousand hours or so playing it since it was released, and I've only played through the main quest once. That's the beauty of the game: you go all through Cyrodiil experiencing things through the eyes of your character, then you start a new character and rediscover it all again from a totally different perspective. DeviousPanduh, just so you know, this probably won't be your last playthrough. :D

Heres a funny thing, in theMorrowind Tribunal expansion, the Oblivion crisis (the gates opening and such) are mentionedin part of a quest.

Yep you should and there are also a very good Mod Compendium that was released a while ago, it's called Morrowind 2011, look for it and try it out if you like. That's the reason I'm replaying Morrowind.

I think, after allowing players to play on all 5 of those places, Skyrim might be the last Elder Scroll.

Why would that be? There are several other provinces that haven't been used yet and I wouldn't be suprised if they "revisited" some such as a redo of Daggerful (High Rock).

And after that, there's still Summerset Isle. It'll be interesting how large Skyrim will be in comparison to Oblivion, considering that Cyrodiil is a larger province on the game map. I'm sure they'll find a way to make it more detailed, or go over the border in some places.

It's nothing new really, I remember when we played Oblivion my nephew and me were taking guesses at where the next ES game would take place. I bet on Hammerfall (again), but Skyrim looks like an amazing place (especially the autumn forest scene).

It's not like it has to be 1:1 with Oblivion. Cyrodiil was hardly a realistic size in Oblivion.
