I personally would say Witcher2 is the slightly better game for me personally. It had a bigger impact on me storywise and I didnt get tired/bored of it before I finished the game like I did with Skyrim.

Skyrim offers more missions, sandbox gameplay, tons of mods, etc..

While Witcher2 is mroe story, characters driven and better graphics

With that being said, I would probably reccomend Skyrim to more people then Witcher2, as it seems more people these days seem to like more freedom of where they can go in rpgs and what not.

Both great rpgs that offer different things, really depends on what the person wants in there rpg to be honest.

The thing for me though is that Skyrim's areas were really repetitive. Exploring became boring because you saw the same stuff over and over. Not to mention the combat is nowhere near as good as The Witcher 2. Skyrim's story is also pretty bad. I never cared about any of the character in Skyrim, no one really had a personality. The Witcher 2 is a more complete game in my opinion.

Witcher 2 no contest.

I liked skryim a lot, it was just so wooden.

Skyrim is great cause the mods you can get... haven't gotten into the witcher 2 yet. Without mods though, the skyrim graphics are pretty rough around the edges.

Tough one for me. I love them both. They're so much different from one another that you gotta play em to appreciate it for yourself.

You would play the games for completely different reasons. I much prefer the Witcher 2. I thought the leveling system broke Skyrims combat and I have no interest in games without good story and characters, I also don't like being alone in games.

The Witcher 2 has a much better story, although Skyrim is the fun sand-box exploration type games. They aren't really comparable.

Whichever one has a kajillion goty awards and is hailed by pretty much every proffessional critic.

Or hey, you can just take the opnion of a few butthurt neckbeards here on GS. Cruxis27

>Badly written Story

>Horrible UI

>Paper thin Dialogue

>Sloppy VA

>Wooden Characters

>Clunky Gameplay mechanics

>Mediocre combat, with no depth, What-so-ever

>Nearly unplayable on PS3

>Abundance of bugs

>Repetitive scenarios

>Bland and repetitive loot that isn't worth discovering since the enchantment tree provides better equipment.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Let's leave it to the profe$$ionals.

Skyrim...I like RPG's that focus on exploration and character development rather than RPG's focused on telling stories and heavy emphasis on tons of dialog.

There is pretty twice the amount of character development in The Witcher 2 when compared to Skyrim. The characters actually develop in other ways than just stats.

I don't care about that kind of character development. Like I said, story/dialog heavy games are not that interesting for me. I enjoy games that focus on exploration, discovery, free play, open ended design, and stuff like that. Playing the Witcher for me is more like an interactive book, and while I enjoy reading books, it's not why I play video games. Skyrim really reminded me of playing a lot of the older RPG's of my youth (80's & early 90's). Spent like 80-90 hours going through the game, leveling up, finding all sorts of secrets, discovering the world, and just having a blast doing my thing. Witcher, on the other hand, I just felt like it was going from one set piece to the other. Every 10-15mins being bothered with a cutscene or lengthy dialog. It's all very high quality and I understand why people enjoy the game, but it's just not for me.

True, but what really dragged Skyrim down was the awful combat. There is literally no depth to it at all. If they threw in better combat it would be one of my favorite games.

I thought the combat was decent, especially for an Elder Scrolls game which frankly never had top notch combat. Even Morrowind's combat was pretty ho-hum even against some of it's closer competition.

For instance, Arx Fatalis (which was released around the same time) I thought had much cooler combat. Aside from it's unique magic system, the melee combat was better IMO too. Enemies reacted believably to being damaged, in some cases crying out in pain or hobbling away in fear. There was decapitations and dismemberment as well.

Skyrim did do some nice additions to the formula...I especially like unlocking new moves although there could have been more. The finishing moves were pretty neat too. The actual combat did end up feeling a tad shallow though, mostly due to the low difficulty level. If you were required to utilize the tools they gave you (and there was quite a lot of options there) it would have been better.

Overall it does get repetitive but in the grande scheme of things and judging Skyrim as a whole I think it's one of my favorite RPG's of the last few years and totally agree with all the GOTY awards and high marks it received.

They are both wonderful. You can't go wrong with either.
