Hi guys. I have a GTX 570 grate card, but im but i do notice on some games it have a hard time, will it be worth it if i get a second GTX 570, or just go get a GTX 670?
and what will be the cons for a SLI GTX 570 set up?
I have a 750 W PSU and a second PCI-e x16 at x8 slot, the first PCI-e x16 is full x16
sli gtx 570 > 670 cons : extra heat,micro stuttering,some games might not like sli\crossfire cards but it's cheaper. I'd save a bit more and grab a 770

sounds reasonable if i were to sell my GTX 570? how much can I sell it for in USD

Just so you know, with my PC I can draw over 750W using dual GTX 570s.
That's with my overclocked Phenom II x4 940. If I run stock clock on the CPU and GPUs, I draw just under 700W (roughly 680). Overclock my CPU and I'm upwards of 760W.
If you do plan on running dual GTX 570s, you'll need to improve your PSU as well, to be on the safe side of things.
SLI/Crossfire is more trouble than it's worth. First off, you will likely need a PSU upgrade as well. Then, some games may not even work. The games that do work may experience micro-stutter caused by uneven frametimes. This can be alleviated by adding a third card, which is more $$$. Just get a 670, and if you can save more, a 680 or 770.
[QUOTE="The_Animator420"] There are brand new 570's on ebay going for $100-$150, so I'm guessing you wont get that much for a used one. Probably $50-$60. mastershake575
I don't know where your seeing these new card for $100-150. I typed in gtx 570, selected new and the cheapest one was a crappy Zotac model for $190.

I sold my GTX 560ti on ebay a few months ago for $138 USD (you should at least get $130-150 depending on which model/cooler it has).
its a ESC GTX 570 with the reference cooler, and stock speeds

Where did you come up with over 750w with SLI 570's? Max power usage from a normal 570 is 219w So with two 570's and OC Phenom 2 your still well below 600w, with hdd's and fans you be pushing slightly over 600w.
7970 is having an awesome promotion right now. It is on par with a 770, has more vram and a bigger bus, costs $150 less and comes with free games. You can get a 7970 for $300 now. It even overclocks like a beast, probably the best card on the market for high end bang for buck.

At stock, the 7970 is a little bit behind than the 770, it's when overclocked that it can get on par or surpass the 770. Anyway, at 300$ it's clearly a better deal over the 770 that is at 400$.
750w is fine for 570 SLi. microstutter is more of an AMD issue now with frame pacing.
I had 480 SLi, and never found agame to give me stuttering problems, but you will be held back with only 1280mb, 1536MB is the minimum now to enjoy all games maxed at 1080p.
I'd have a 670 over 570 SLI. Much less heat and power draw, much quieter and more VRAM.
horgen123
But less power. However at this point, I will suggest 770 over 670... Not much difference, like 10%. Not worth it in my opinion, plus you could easily OC the 670. And it wouldn't be less power when you hit the VRAM limit :P
why are people recommending a 670/760?? The 7970 is the way to go, every review site would say the same thing. Unless you really really love physx, aka mr.over rated, then there is no reason what so ever to go a 670 over a similar 7950 or a 7970.

GTX 760 is typically $250-260 USD. It's a faster card out of the box than the 7950, and it's cheaper than the 7970. That's a good reason. The 7950 is a great card at the price it's selling at now, no doubt. It's just not the only good option.
GTX 670 is roughly on par with 7970 out of the box, and sells for around the same price. Some people prefer Nvidia because of experiences they've had with products from AMD and team green. With price and performance being close, that would be enough to sway many people, and a completely legitimate reason.

Of course, there is no reasoning with you.
let me just say one thing. If the situations were reversed and the 7950 was a geforce gtx 7950, and the 7970 was a geforce 7970 gtx, while the AMD cards were the radeon 670/760/770, then everyone here would be recommending the 7950/7970. Too many nvidia fanboys on this site to get a good recommendation.

hey guys thanks for all the information, ill save up and get a GTX 770, i just cant run newer games ( Dog Days) on ultra, but I can run the game on high, so I'll save up,a nd who know by that time the next new line of GPUs will be out
I'd go with 770 above all, a ton of RAM on that thing, plus more power.
toughtrasher
That's where I have a problem with it. It doesn't have the RAM that a 400.00 card should have. 2GB for 400.00 is not exactly value. Of course, you can get a a 4GB for more money, but you shouldn't have to pay much for more RAM. The 760 can be overclocked to be about as fast as the 770 for 150.00 less.

indeed...if AMD can sell a 3gb card like the 7970 for $300, then nvidia definitely should be able to sell a 4gb (or possibly higher) 770 for $400.

Yep. The 4gb 760 for $300 might be the best valued card Nvidia has.
holy sht bro!!! I didnt even notice. That dude horgen has a similar amount of posts as well.
He's at 116k, yes.
i was here since 2003/04 or so using various accounts but this is the one that lasted the longest. The old rules were pretty harsh and easy to get nuked. My combined post is around 15 k

And some of us got 100K with the old rules. You only had to play it a little childish/boring as some would say.
