I just was wondering if anybody knew of anymore games like this. Me and my wife like playin these games on a lan ie; Full spectrum warrior, fallout tactics. We arent really looking for an FPS more like a strategy(real/turn) game. Any advice would help.

Thanx

Ps. we dont want to control entire armies.

actual brothers in arms is a really good game, I've played it and I can't wait til the new one comes out. It looks pretty sweet. The tactics in the vegas serious have been toned down to much in my opinion. Most people don't really use tactics in its multiplayer. It's more run and gun.

You will like Swat 4....

if you want to try something kinda different though, try out BF2, It has an excellent squad system...its online only though, so your squadmates will all be real players, but if you find a nice server, the experience is second to none.

Yea swat 4 is a pretty amazing game. I don't remember bf2 havin a squad system. Company of heroes seems great, i actually purchased it and it runs at 10-20fps, which is a nightmare. I appreciate all of your suggestions so far. I always hear the x-com series is good but it lacks multiplayer

jagged alliance 1 & 2. jagged alliance 3 is supposed to be released sometime next year, i think.

also, x-com: ufo defense and x-com: terror from the deep.

not sure, though, if any of these have multiplayer.

i'm sure jagged alliance 3 will, since it'll be a new game, and i can't imagine new games not having some sort of multiplayer.

Sorry, I dont have many games to suggest, but hear hear to people still looking for strategy.

Like the first poster, I too did alot of hardcore tactical games like FSW and Rainbow Six; but lately that genre has all but died to my dismay. But anyways, a tip of my hat to those few remaining gamers who still remember the good ol' days of rainbow six like tactics. :)

If I had to suggest a two person strat. game, I would go with Rainbow Six Raven Shield. One person runs one squad while the other person runs the other squad. Very good times- and the most rewarding feeling ive gotten playing games when both of us perfectly breach a room full of tangos and clear the room without any enemy gun fire...

operation flashpoint and armed assault (it's spiritual successor) are great squad shooters. they're very realistic and have great co-op that forces teamwork, also great sniping and ambushing

Check out the Combat Mission series. CM:SF is a nice tactical game focusing on US Army Stryker brigades. You get to command squads in a middle-eastern setting, applying modern warfare tactics. The game came out kinda rough but with the latest patches it's fun to play. It is realism-focused and might not be for everyone, though.

Thank you all I'm glad to have received so many response. I thought this topic would either die quickly or end in a flame war. Decon I think i will definitely pick up raven shield since it sounds like its right up my alley. Civ4 has too many alternate things going on. It takes like 10hrs to finish one game, lol. Usually pc games own console, but i think i'll wait for the watered down 360 version.

Brigade E5 (No co-op though)

7.62 (sequal to E5, only Reloaded expansion pack has co-op, must use mod to turn it into english)

Soldiers: Heroes of World War II

Faces of War (sequal to HOWW2)

hey how is that game, e5 and 7.62 I saw it at gamestop and i almost bought it. I heard the SMP gets really annoying because it stops you like every two seconds and the path finding is atrocious.

I second this, great game with the patches. I would also reccomend checking out Theatre of War.

Pathfinding is sometimes a bit annoying but it's fine most of the time. SPM (smart pause mode) is a god's gift and should be used in all games that make use of small squads. SPM pauses when something happends that you usually want to know about. For example when an enemy has been spotted, or somebody sees an enemy grenade, or you lost sight of a specific enemy, or one of your characters is idle, or anything else of interest. This is a good thing because most of the time you will want to adjust your character's actions to respond to the new threat. SPM consist out of many options that you can choose, so you can configure it however you want and you can even disable it (you don't want to do that).

It sure beats the other systems from other games where your character is idle, gets shot by the enemy but the game doesn't tell you about it until he got shot or is already dead. Well, that's not really a system, is it? In the other games time simply never stops and combined with the fact that your soldiers got no AI whatsoever, that usually results in idiotic mistakes that should never have happened in the first place. SPM basically makes up for the fact that in total real time you can't watch every single soldier non-stop at the same time.

Well, there is 7.62 which is much more fun compared to E5. These games were inspired by the Jagged Alliance series, so you could also try those games. Personally, I didn't like Jagged Alliance that much.

By the way, once you get E5, don't forget to get the Immortal Badass mod. It's a community mod that adds many new things and improves the game big time. You can get it from the official English Brigade E5 forum. There is also a mod called Blood Money but it's very buggy, so I don't recommend it.
