So I'm thinking of getting BFBC2 Vietnam.

After all the time of hating BFBC2 i decided to give it another chance and i got hooked. I'm looking into buying the vietnam expansion pack since it'slike 11 bucks on D2D. I was just wondering how big the download is and if it is any more graphically demanding than BFBC2. I had to tweak my settings a ton for BC2. Will I have to do it again for vietnam or will it use the BC2 settings?

There is no update since it is just a key to unlock what has already been patched into BC2. It seems to be slightly less demanding (runs a little better) but that could also be because of less physics objects. Really it is just about as demanding though.

I don't reccomend it. Although it's neat for a little while I found myself going back to the regular version of the game. The Vietnam maps are boring and plain, with 3/4 being very small although I highly enjoyed one of them (can't be bothered to look up the name). I would suggest staying away from it but if you aren't really going to buy anything else for a bit and want something new it is quite interesting for a bit.

Whenever you click on the Vietnam button in the BC2 screen it prompts for a key. Once you enter it you can play instantly.

And I disagree with the previous poster. I personally like Vietnam more than BC2. I love how they are smaller and faster. Some of the maps in BC2 are just outragesouly big and annoying (I am looking at you Heavy Metal...). Plus they are great just for some added variety. I tend to play some Vietnam then switch to BC2 and then back to Vietnam all in the same play session.

I'm mainly looking because I spent a lot of time playing medal of honor and I am just kind of looking to get some new settings it. I Like smaller maps anyway though.

I just now logged on and checked it. You know if there is by any chance somewhere that has it even cheaper than 12 bucks?

I wouldn't recommend it. I got it a launch and after a week or so I went back to vanilla BC2 and haven't played Vietnam since.

I got it for $4 a little bit ago. It was fun for a little while, but got boring rather quickly. I found myself going back to regular BC2.

I think you'll enjoy it if you like BC2. The expansion runs a lot better and also has better hit detection, probably because there's hardly any destructible objects.. but yeah. The expansion is solid. Lighting dudes on fire is always entertaining...

Pick up Vietnam it makes a good game a great game imo.

This is the only online shooter besides tf2 that has me coming back for more and more.

I have already played Vietnam much more then I did BC2. I got bored of BC2 pretty fast, but Vietnam has me coming back for more. Dont know if I would play BC2 ever again if Vietnam didnt come out to be honest. One of my favorite expansions in years. Only time I go back to BC2 ever is if a friend wants to play that doesnt have vietnam but 99% of the time if its just me or me adn my cousin I always go to Vietnam, just feels more polished and I like the setting better.

Community has died? Are you kidding me? There are tons of servers up the last few days. I always have tons of servers to choose from with low pings.

He already got it, probably, so no use trying to convince him, but it's bad, horrible actually, hit detection isn't better, it's just that even normal servers are like hc back on BC2 and all the maps are built with two rules, "noob tube" and camping, you have pure camping and spawn camping, maps are flawed and average in quality (got this thing because of two maps I saw in a trailer, I was expecting it to be average because it's BC2 but this was trash).

I love it. Especially Operation Hastings. I could play that map forever. The weapons have a different (better) feel to them imo. As a sniper with many hours in both I can definitely tell a difference. It's worth it if you can get it for cheap.

I wouldnt bother, i regret spending 11 dollars buying (could have put that towards portal2...), upon activating it and browsing for servers, there was about 11 servers 9 of them empty and 2, 3/4 populated.... This was in Aus though.

It's always populated from what I have seen, and it's freaking awesome. The maps are fun and the other features (like new weapons, radios in vehicles, ect) make an already awesome game even better. Also not sure what that one dude was talking about either...there's plenty of fun competitive servers going where people work as teams and it's not "noobtube with camp spawning". I've played exactly two games like that, and once I saw what was going on I left and found another server...easy peasy.

I played all my 16 games like that, so don't know what you played but it's hard not to play in the same way since it happened because of the maps, they were designed like that.

I played a hell of a lot more games in BFBC2:V than 16 and only a couple times saw the stuff you are describing. If you CHOOSE to play like that or on servers like that that's YOUR fault. I don't, and have played on servers MANY times that don't, so no, it's not how the maps were designed. It's you.

There is only one map I dont like in Vietnam 4/5 are good, but for BC2 I only liked about half of the maps for some reason.

This is a team game, there goes your arguments. If it's like that on 16 different servers on random days, then it's like that everywhere. Don't know with who you played, but when a game forces you on certain paths most follow them. All "you" can do is pick up something that makes "boom" and profit.

I have no idea what you are talking about...I play both pug servers and with people I know over teamspeak and there's tons of team play going on. You don't know what you are talking about and it's becuase you simply don't have the experience. Sounds like you picked some bad servers, played a few games, and just gave up.

BFBC2 has a huge online community with tons of people playing and some really great team focused servers...especially if you like HC mode.

I am sorry, but your brief personal experience does not override the FACT there is tons of people playing the game in the manner I describe and not a noobtube camp fest. The OP will have no issue finding great servers to play on. And if they want an even better team experience, all they need to do is search out some of the HC clans out there and join up. I've played in some truly awesome clan matches.

And that's all I'll say on the matter...done arguing with someone who barely even played the game. Lot's of great servers out there with great team play going on all the time, DanielDust's comments don't just make that all the sudden not true.

the vietnam maps are probably the most terribly designed maps I've ever seen, especially in rush. The expansion is not fit for vehicles and player limits that large. It's a massive cluster**** of people tossing grenades while sitting on ammo bags

Vietnam is excellent. I wouldn't say that the community is dead at all, either.
