So in other words: We can't tell you if you will think its worth buying or not :P
it's awesome. it does a lot of things way better than WoW that also saves so much time that would otherwise take away from gameplay.
no res sickness after you die because you just pay a healer which you respawn next to. no walking around for 10 minutes after you die only to be killed again by campers. teleporting instead of flying to major cities which would take so long in WoW.
PvPvE, aerial combat...not waiting until hitting lvl 60 to fly, you get that at lvl 10. built in quest helper so you don't need to use thottbot every other minute or download add-ons.
plus better graphics, better music, better looking armor and weapons, better looking spells...just all around solid.
it's a nice change of scenery.
queues for many servers are terrible right now but i'm sure they will open more servers soon. on the other hand when you're in the game there is no lag and everything works. OntainThat's good though. Far too many MMO's before it have released a ton of servers, only to find out they don't have the population they were expecting. People were spread to thin, places were a ghost town and it was hard to find other people to play with. Then everybody gets fed up and quits, the game dies. It's nice to see NCSoft playing it safe. Even Blizzard over-estimated how many players they'd have after they released Burning Crusade. There were a lot of low pop servers that basically were dead a week after they opened them. They played it safe with WotLK and opened up a couple new ones, and that was basically it.

OntainThey'll be coming out with official servers soon. Right now (if i'm correct) they're only using the ones they had for beta/pre-order. and seeing how they sold more pre-orders than they had expected, there's queues to get in game.

*knocks on wood* :P
I'm really enjoying it. I played in open beta, head start, and now the official launch. Part of the reason I probably like it so much, though, is that it's not WoW... I've played WoW for too long and just became bored of it, so Aion is a nice breath of fresh air. I certainly recommend it, but read up about it (the official website's PowerWiki is great for information) before deciding for yourself.
Also, about the queue thing: Just pick a lower population server and it'll be fine. I haven't had to wait in a queue yet.
Sounds like someone took the WoW gameplay formula and took it even further. Now I'm just waiting for an MMO where you can't die, you get flying mounts at level 1, and you can fast-travel to any given location in the game.it's awesome. it does a lot of things way better than WoW that also saves so much time that would otherwise take away from gameplay.

That's the thing people don't realize, and part of the reason I'm not liking recent changes Blizzard is making. An MMO doesn't have to punish you, BUT if there is no challenge, why even play? Where's the reward for effort? People keep wanting things handed to them on a silver platter, and I think that ruins the spirit of the game somewhat. I'm not saying you should have to play 12 hours a day to have nice things in the game, but the game shouldn't be changed into complete easy mode either.it's awesome. it does a lot of things way better than WoW that also saves so much time that would otherwise take away from gameplay.

My complaint is that the game just sounds like a huge timesink. It just boils down to who can play the game the most. When will they bring back skill-based MMOs? You know - games where you don't have to grind to level up, but you level up particular skills. I'd like to see some developer pull that off.it's awesome. it does a lot of things way better than WoW that also saves so much time that would otherwise take away from gameplay.

I like to think Ive at least tried almost every MMO released in the past five years. There have been some good ones, some bad ones, some great ones that failed, etc.
Imo I think Aion is the MMO a lot of people have been waiting for. Its great. More importantly, it has a really good server provider behind it, as well as a reliable development team. Those are the two most crucial things imo for an MMO to not only be quality, but to be a success.
As for the game itself, I really enjoyed the time I spent in the beta. Classes are unique and fun, the gameplay is solid (a hybrid of traditional point and click combined with combo strikes), and the story seems solid. The community will also be fairly large as well.
So yes, I think if you are interested in an MMORPG Aion would be worth it. I am very tempted but Ive given up MMOs until the WoW expansion comes out

I agree, a new approach to "levelin" would be appreciated by myself as well.
However, the only possible way to prevent grinding at this point is a low level cap and/or make leveling so fast you can actually get a level in an hour
Its been released for almost two days and I'm already tired of the WoW comparisons/complaints. General chat in the game, so far, has been nothing but "Boy, this sure isn't WoW". No kidding...
Otherwise, I've been happy with Aion since beta. Granted that I haven't gotten much further than my "ascension" and, therefore, not too far into the heart of the game, but at a basic level, it is very pleasing.
I wonder how much of a dent will this game put on WoW. So far it looks like it's doing a good job.KHAndAnime

i really hope this game succeeds because its a good game. I dont want it to inflate and fail because it takes people from WoW, they miss WoW, then abandon Aion.

Yeah, don't have inflated expectations people. WAR and AoC received praise during the first few days too. Then it all fell apart. However, from beta testers who made it further into the game, it's supposed to hold up well.[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]

However, from beta testers who made it further into the game, it's supposed to hold up well. I know next to nothing about Aion from first-hand, and I don't plan to ever play the game. But I just wish the game does well so that the MMO market can keep moving forward. Its been released for almost two days and I'm already tired of the WoW comparisons/complaints. I agree with you completely. I played WoW for two days, that was enough for me, and I was done with the community. Well here they are in full force in a completely different game, and they still can't stop talking about Warcraft. sigh. So I have general chat off at the moment... :)lol, so true. One thing you will find out is that the MMO community are some of the most negative people you will meet. That could also be because the genre is really lacking great games right now. You really have to make up your own mind. This is what people will say:

There is, yeah. There's like a campaign quest that goes on through your path of becoming a daeva and then something more.. and then all the side quests. But they're decently written. I don't really mind the quest-grind just due to the way it's been handled.
I've been reading alot of Aion has alot of new things thats different from WoW yet it also improves on a lot of things that people like about WoW. But I'm not exactly sure what, though coz they generally aren't very detail about it. Can someone kindly list some specifics on what actually makes it "different" and "better" than WoW?mirgamer
The endgame is PvP focused.
That said, really liking the game so far.
