I know this isn't techinally "PC Hardware," but I feel the need to ask all of you. What do you think about Microsoft's new ad campaign? I think that microsoft is just pulling **** out of their ****** to get people to even consider Vista. What do you guys think about it?

P.S.

Microsoft should die!!!

So you're saying that they shouldn't advertise Vista, which is their best operating system to date, and features less security vulnerabilities and bugs than the previous ones, and on top of that, is more user-friendly?

Ugh.

The campaign was made because people like you spread bogus information about the product.

Security bug? Ive had just as much spyware and cookies as XP
Best? I cant even install service pack 1 because its glitched
User friendly? I like how I cant even start a program without it bugging me with UAC and firewalls.

Vista is the WORST os ever and ontop of endless ads, they pay people to says its good.

Perhaps one should consider surfing safer websites. I have no anti-virus running on my computer (haven't had one for more than three months) and I have yet to get infected by something. I do a weekly scan with two different anti-virus programs and three anti-spyware programs, and it's always clean.

You're the first person I've heard that has this problem. Are you sure you've tried downloading it off Microsoft's official website?

UAC can be disabled. Even a three-year-old could find out how to disable it.

The reason they implemented UAC was because people complained that there was no "security check" in XP, yet when they add it to Vista the whole world cries.

Of course...

I'm running Vista 64-bit SP1, moved up from XP 32-bit SP3, I like it better, it has more features, it is more secure, and even when UAC is enabled it isn't even that much of a hassle. I wouldn't say it's more stable, and XP SP3 is rock solid, but Vista's stability is good, I haven't had any problems with it other than my ATI driver crashing now and then.

Vista had its share of bugs when it came out, it got bad press. Apple then capitalized on the bad press by releasing the "I'm a PC, and I'm a Mac" advertising campaign which only furthered the idea that Vista is bad. Now that Vista is in a very usable state and actually a worthy successor to XP, people are just under the influence that it's no good.

So I think Microsoft is doing the right thing with their advertising campaign.

After using Vista for a good measure, I don't see myself ever using XP again.

Microsoft should have the right to advertise vista. VIsta is more secure then XP was. I have had no trouble installing Vista SP1 on either vista machine I use. UAC can be either tolerated or delt with.

However Vista is still unstable as far as I am concerned. There is no reason Windows Explorer should have crashed on me yesterday. Even if it is better then it was, Vista isn't what I would call stable.
