Hopefully the PC version won't lose much or anything from that, I'll have to see when it comes out. Dumbed down games and stories is what people want now a days in all forms of media so if it is dumbed down it won't really be a surprise. People praising the role playing elements of Fallout 3, the story of Heavy Rain, movies like Avatar, comics like Cry for Justice, etc. It's a rare thing to get a game made just for the PC, even more than that it's rare to get a truly well made game. [QUOTE="SkyWard20"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] They are games with PC established audience that were designed with consoles in mind.Legolas_Katarnok, what problems did you have while playing them? ...I'm pretty sure it isn't just him that was disappointed with Fear 2 and Arcania.
Arcania (gothic4) was a slap in the face to GOthic fans and one of the worst rpgs ive played. Makes me cry when I think about it ):
Risen on the other hand (by the makers of old school gothic games), was fantastic.
Whether it goes to console or not, if the fighting is anything like it was in the first one.....I'd honestly have to say that I would be just like playing a console game. You just time your clicks with the sword icon and you kill things....eh, one of the most boring combat systems I've used in a while. The story was pretty good, which is what kept me playing. I'm just hoping that the second game isn't like the first one, with the very dull combat system.neatfeatguy
I completely agree. The combat in The Witcher was terrible, could have easily been ported to the consoles, and it nearly made be stop playing the game.
While news that The Witcher 2 is being developed with the "consoles in mind" is a little concerning, at least they're not going Full-Bioware and developing the PC version as a ported afterthought. The fixed camera does bother me though. I truly dislike the behind the back, third-person view. I much prefer an isometric viewpoint although, honestly, in The Witcher the isometric view didn't really add anything to the game other than aesthetics. It's not like you needed it for tactics.
As long as CD Projekt RED can deliver on their promise of a truly choice-based, action-RPG with real C&C, diverging story-lines, I'll be OK with it but if it's just another linear "cinematic" experience à la that other developer, I'll pass. We'll see I guess.
Honestly, I don't really care if The Witcher 2 and other PC games get ported to consoles. So long as the games remain fun I'm happy.
People complained on Facebook, and their response was:
"Let me get that controls-thing straight. The interface has been designed to work perfectly on both kb+mouse and gamepad. It's neither gamepad-only nor kb+mouse-only. We've got chocolate and peanut butter in one - easy access (pad) and keys customization (kb). Peace out!"
This might sound very unreasonable from me, but just sounds like any RPG ever ported from consoles. Didn't Oblivion work the same way. Or Two Worlds II? I'm over it. Thought differently about this game, clearly i was very wrong. I think the dissapointment is what's getting to me, not the fact that it's kinda consolised.People complained on Facebook, and their response was:

SO WHAAAAAAAAAT, tbh i am sick of guys like you, its like there is a bible for PC games and every dev should stick to it and if he didn't he become an infidel and no one should buy his demonic console games !!! whats your DEFINITION of a PC game ? a game that forbid of using gamepads, exclusive ? devs are making console ports cuz they need money, unfortunately lots of PC gamers pirate games and don't buy them, console piracy is less than PC piracy. i bet if valve or blizzard released a game that looks exactly like CoD no one would whine and all what talk about how that game is a true PC game !!!!yemen_headshot
:? A PC shooter would look nothing like COD. And it's not that big of a deal, it's just everyone, including me, was hyping it immensely, thought it would be some kind of a true PC game, but with console versions too, just like DA:O was. I'm just disappointed that's all.
I think you're way in over your head of how much consoles sell.
Halo and COD will sell millions...but they also have millions of dollars poured into marketing as well...Last year god knows how many excellent games flopped on consoles. Like Alan Wake, Enslaved, Castlevania, Vanquish....

Not an elitist, i play all games, own consoles, but i wanted to pre-order The Witcher 2, maybe even buy the collectors edition, because i believed I was supporting a high budged PC centered game, and PC centered developers. With the competition being so high this year, I'ts not a day one buy for me anymore.[QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"]Why. Do. People. Jump. To. Conclusions?! How is it ported from consoles when the console versions are being latter released than the PC version. The combat change ,face it is something to blame PC gamers for, they complained.
What is known:
16 endings, 5 chapters. 3 classes, standard signs + one added, 30 armor sets, alchemy, crafting. Combat depending more on Geralt's skill, rather than on the players response speed. Depending on your build different injuries, worlds are roughly per chapter 3 times biger than the first game. Game is longer with side quests than the first one.
The camera looks fitting the Arkham approach, and the for cinematics. Two Worlds 2 has 4 tasks assigned to space and a max of 1x AA, and bloom that burns the eyes. Maybe they fixed it by now, but was the horror. Arcania is a product of gamers and devs, not of consoles.
How many people complained about the Witcher's combat-many.
Personally I found it very unique and liked it. No matter how much action they add it fits Geralt - the superhuman from the books. Not a single video looked consolised , the game has potential sure, but the tactical cameras of Ol' Aurora are gone with the new engine, and the game was in dire need for a new engine, because Aurora was dated even 2007.
As for DAO , the improving by removing Bioware did with ME2 and now even more with DA2 is disapointing indeed.
One thing I really hope they don't have in witcher 2:
the dumb animation where he is holding the blade by the hilt and decides to instead flip the sword around and grab it by the blade and hit them with the piece of the blade right next to the hilt in an impractical move that seems like an eternity to finish.
DESIGNING A GAME THAT CAN BE EASILY PORTED TO CONSOLES HAS NO AFFECT ON PC GAMING The latest Gothic game is a masterpiece PC SHOOTERS ARE NOT BEING CONSOLIZED I just got done playing a 64 man map on BattleField 2 I have a feeling that this thread is being swarmed by little 14 year old mouth breathers who have no idea was a deep and complex pc game is.Jakejack
I disagree about the shooters thing. Most recent PC shooters were first and foremost console games that have been ported over in a half-assed fashion to the PC. I have high hopes for Red Orchestra though.
I'll just add that I do think that when devs make a game with the intention of porting it to consoles they do have to hold something back. The current PC's are well beyond a whole generation above consoles. Consoles become the least common denominator.
Thats not to say its going to be a bad game, but dang I wish someone would just focus on making a PC game that really takes advantage of the tech. Like crytek did 4 years ago.

Well, it's such a manly move.
The loser is not worthy the fast death by a blade, better make im suffer even more with a blunt hit. :P
It's like smashing watermelons, just saying.
People please read the article and not what IGN said at the bottom. It's not confirmed for the consoles..lawlessx
Exactly. The first was supposed to go to consoles too but look at how that turned out. I don't think TW2 will go to consoles (Isn't the minimum a 8800GT anyway?) Their next project definitely will. I just don't like how they've seem to state in the past how its a pure PC game then turn around now and say some stuff was made with consoles in mind. If we don't get a demo or something before release I might just pull my CE preorder.
This thread reeks of elitism and paranoia, I'm outta here.

I think all elitists are paranoid. If a dev even mentions the word "console", they go ape-poop crazy.
Oh well, let them go on complaining about games and never playing anything. Meanwhile, the rest of us will have a kick-ass time playing all the great PC games out there. And really, that's all that matters in the end ;)

I have to mod Oblivion so the icons don't look like they are made for the people standing on the other end of my apartment. Can't believe this just confirmed what i was thinking. Nothing seems to be sacred anymore. Again I'm over it.. Ill just skip the game for now to avoid frustration. I think its great they are adding gamepad support.
I'll probably use it while playing on my flatscreen. It gives people more options to play the way they want. It just shows you that they are actually supporting their game aren't skimping on the little things--keeping in mind that the PC has different input devices.
An epic display of it, too. Well I'm sorry, i want PC franchises to look like actual PC games, not something made to be played from a couch. They didn't design this UI thinking on the 5% PC gamers who play on their couch, they designed it thinking on consoles. that's really why i made this thread, I'm not trying to say that it wont be an excellent game, but it's made for consoles, no different than any other big budget upcoming RPG. Take a look at this horrible console interface:
Lists or grids don't tell anything about the intended platform.
The right panel of TW2's inventory is very promising, I'd just add monochrome icons to the left of every item. It looks better than Dragon Age's from that screenshot alone... The left side needs more work though. I'm very curious to see the new one.

Exactly, it's their loss anyways, everything needs to be made by Valve and Blizzard to be good for PC elitists.
What's wrong with this system?
You can't navigate trough it on a console.GeneralShowzer
Only the alchemy portion, it's a horrible mess and totally useless. Before the Enhanced Edition the entire inventory was a mess though.
There's a lot of unused space, and I hate that in every game. Especially Dragon Age was driving me mad. Morrowind had a great interface. Oblivion and Fallout 3 were also well organized IMO, but they decided to make the character eat half of the screen, made the inventory entries too big and not enough icons. Easily fixed by mods, and looks like Skyrim brings back the Morrowind system.
A game with bad interface is Two Worlds 2. Now that's what I call consolised, and obviously the devs had no idea how to actually make a console interface - it's the embodiment of all paranoid elitists' fears.
(The Witcher doesn't have official gamepad support, but there is a workaround and it's just fine)
This is a joke. I'm sick of PC elitists. So the game is also being made with consoles in mind, who gives a flying ****? The UI looks great, I think it's got a really nice stylized look to it. Just because it's navigatable on a console shouldn't matter. I thought PC gamers were usually known for being mature, itelligent people?
