So which is better the dark the dark descent or machine for pigs ?

So I finally beat the first amnesia. Had it in my steam for years and was really terrified of it for some reson becasue of what people were saying but once I got in to it and played it for a while I found it to not that scary at all. Like nothing scared me at all  wen I was past 1/3 of the game and once I figured out how the game works.Not only you can save wherever you want but mosters despawn wen they kill you and the game tells you what you need to do every time you die.This kills the scare factor a lot.Anyway I still enjoyed it a lot overall since I really like the lovecraftian type universe and I'm wondering now should i get machine for pigs.

Is it better? Is it worst? Is its scarier ? Should I get it ?

Tired of posting an essay everytime so I'll just say: TDD is more thrilling and tense with better gameplay, AMFP is more horrific with a much better story, characters, acting, music, sound design

I'd say for me Dark Descent was scarier, but the atmosphere in Machine for Pigs is probably better. Dark Descent has most of the scare factors such as the monsters straight in your face and Machine for Pigs is a lot more phychological...hearing and seeing things and not sure what is real and what is not, etc.

Not trying to criticize here, but it sounds like you couldn't get immersed in the game environment. If thats the case, I would probably skip Machine for Pigs. I have enjoyed both games tremendously and they have thoroughly terrified me. I play alone, with lights off, and good quality 5.1 headphones.

Just might not be the kind of game for you. If you can't get fully immersed in the game's atmophere or feel any sort of connection to whats happening on the screen, either Amnesia will probably be a waste of your time.

There is one very very key thing for a game to be truly scary and that difficulty. You need to be afraid that you wont be able to beat certain part.You'd be so much more afraid of the monsters if they didn't disappear after killing you once.Thats ridiculous.

Just creepy shit happening doesn't scare me to be fair.I still enjoyed it but its not enough to scare. I loved the silent hill 2 and 3 for example but they didn't scare me at all tbh.

If you haven't read lovecraft do so or play call of cthulhu dark corners of the earth (but for the love of god dont do it on PC, there are MAJOR literary game braking bugs that I was stuck on for hours and are incredibly frustrating, 99% of people would just quit but I love the setting and lore too much so I kept going). Amnesia and much more are heavily influenced by lovecrafts work.

So yeah I enjoyed the story and atmosphere of Amnesia a lot.Not really that scary but it was good enough for me.
