So will Diablo 3 have an expansion like it's predecessor ?

The story seems to be over, and I don't really know much about the lore to say what could expand or continue it. If there is an expansion, how would you continue the story, and what would you like to be added to the game itself ? Will it add more classes and another act like LoD for D2 ?

I sure hope so, I remember Diablo2 had a fantastid expansion.

I liked Diablo2 when it first came out, but it really was not a GREAT game until the expansion came out imo. Felt more FULL so to speak after that.

Add a few new cla$$es and make end game more enjoyable with maybe some new missions or another chapter or something. PvP is coming to also, Blizzard did great job with D2's expansion and same with Starcraft1's expansion and Warcraft 2's expansion pack called Beyond The Dark Portal I think it was.

That's a given. Blizzard has made at least one expansion for all of their PC exclusives. Diablo 3 sold 6 million. They will definitely try to get some of those to buy an expansion. The only question is what sort of new content will it have. Will it be like Lord of Destruction with a new act but no level cap increase or more like WoW with level cap increases each time? I hope they don't do level increases. It's really annoying to get a good set of gear and then it all has to be replaced in the expansion. One reason why I quit WoW.

[spoiler] As far as story, they hint that Leah's soul can still be redeemed. Adria is still out there somewhere too. The Templar wants to take you back to his order's headquarters to confront them on their planned battle with angels and indoctrination practices. The Scoundrel wants to go back to his homeland to get his brother out of jail. The Jeweler is still looking for that special gem that consumes anyone that touches it. [/spoiler]

I'm sure it will. It'll probably be out late next year, and I'd bet that it introduces at least 2 new classes, and a new act, plus a huge influx of new Legendary and Set items. Continuing the story won't be difficult. "Diablo's not really dead. he's the embodiment of evil, so as long as there is evil, he will exist in some way.. yada yada yada, go to hell and keep fighting". I would say that an expansion will probably increase the level cap, but since there's not really any stat customization, and all the skills and runes are unlocked as of level 60, they probably won't increase the level cap, unless they also add another couple skills/runes to every class.

BTW, pretty sure the biggest reported purpose of 1.04 is tweaking the loot table. And PVP will be with patch 1.1, hopefully before the end of the year.

I think they are based on some Diablo books that were written, so technically people who are big enough fans will probably know what is going to happen. Heard this from a D3 fanboy but I don't know to what extent they follow these books.

I'm sure they will. I think people forget just how much better D2 was after LoD was released.

I'd say it's worth 30 bucks if you have friends to play with.

Guarenteed. The ending left plenty of room for an expansion and there's still tons we haven't seen yet.

I hope Patch 1.04 will make the loot system alot better than now and they better fix stats on the Legendary item! Rumor says that Patch 1.04 will be out on the 8. August. I hope thats true :)

I don't plan on buying the expansion because of this very issue. Telling me how I need to play is outrageous (I can't break pots for goodies!? WHO CARES!?). Clearly, Jay wilson and I don't see eye to eye on what constitutes as "fun". As a result, I'm not sure if I can support an expansion.

No doubt there will be an expansion. It wouldn't surprise me if it took place in Kings Port considering Blizzard already has concept art of the city or what definitely looks like could be the city anyways.

I hope so. When LoD came out, it added so much to D2 and all in a very good way.

My friends and I are putting D3 on hold till the expansion is released.

Im confident we will get one, and im pretty sure it will feature a new area along the lines of the Barb homeland in D2 - might add two heroes as well.

Its pretty much confirmed since an expansion was on the leaked release plans a while back.
