Depends on the camera. 1st person i'll be male, 3rd female. simply because i'm not staring at some guys ar$e for a few hundred hours.

I play as male character. If I want to look at woman I'll go on the street.

Exactly this. The reason most male gamers choose a female avatar over male is because that's the closest they'll ever get to having any real control over an attractive female. Aside from that, do you really think a female character has the capability to save a planet(or universe)?! She should be in the kitchen fixing the hero's next meal. Leave the real work to men.
Always play male characters in the game, largely because I detest playing a fighter in high heels and dresses more suited for 15 year-old fantasies than being practical. It's also less surprising for women to play male characters, than vice versa especially when they first speak in voice chat.
I prefer to play males, but have no real peoblem with playing a female, but pretty hard to roleplay something that has been a mystery for man since the dawn of time.
It's just a game. Immersion aside, it isn't RL, so role-playing a female character doesn't bother me. I can run either gender without problems.
I don't usually play games with a gender option. (CS, CSS, TF2) I remember my GW character being a female monk. I prefer females in fighting games because they're often faster/agile.
LOL. This, for MMO's. In Dungeon Runners, players generally seemed friendlier with my female character than with my male character. For SP, I've chosen a female just because...I guess I don't really give the gender of my character much thought. flipin_jackassSeeing this, I'm reminded of the studies that showed fighter pilots responded better to female cockpit voice, and for this reason has become standard in the Air Force. Even though it's just a computer-generated sound, pilots still responded better to it. I guess even though it's just an avatar, a female-looking character presents a more appealing first impression to other players, and hence the better response, which maybe a subconscious response to that first impression. But that's just my amateur analysis. I'm no psychologist.
1. It's just a game. It's fantasy, escapism, entertainment. 2. And even if it's real life, my attitude is "You choose: make sandwiches or try save the world. If you really want to do what you choose, I won't stop you."Exactly this. Male or female, it just depends on my mood. Doesn't really matter much to me, but in some games choosing female will open up some other dialogue options, etc., so it's worth trying the other gender just to get a slightly different experience. I don't feel 'strange' playing a female at all - they're just games.
My main problem in RPGs is that I find it hard to play 'evil' characters. I always end up playing 'good' and probably miss out on a chunk of other gameplay for that reason.
thisI play as males, but I see why most guys play as woman.
If you are ganna stare at a screen for hundreds of hours do you want to look at a womans ass or mans ass.
I choose male mainly for a little role play. I cant pretend to be a girl...thats just wierd.

as a dude i look at it this way.. if i have to choose between a nice piece of a$$ or a steroid bound hero's bum all day.. its not a question of which its a no brainer.. its like asking me to choose between hanging out with nelly or a playboy bunny.. it doesnt take a genius..
I never understand the argument that "you don't want to look at a guy's ass during the game"... Ehh why would you look at his ass in the first place. Just cos it's there doesn't mean you have to stare at it. When you walking down the street and there's a guy walking in front of you do you feel compelled to stare as his ass? XD... I suppose maybe you have to "always" walk in front of other guys on the street otherwise you might think it's a third person shooter and stare at his bum too much right?..... . . .
Seriously I've been playing male charcters in therd person games for a long time and can't ever remember looking at the characters ass.. I usally looking at the enemy I'm shooting or something.. but not the guys ass haha.
