are external hard drives really that much slower than internal ones and are external harddrives plug and play ready and arethey pretty stable because i cannot get my os to pick up my harddrive and i was wondering if external ones work pretty good
External harddrives that use USB are fast enough, those that use Firewire400 (1394a) are equally fast and those that use Firewire800 (1394b) are fastest.. However..installing your OS on an external drive (especially through USB) is not something a lot of people do. External drives are usually just for data storage and taking from PC to PC..
do u know a lot of info on formatting a hard drive. i bought a new computer and this is the only thing i got left and my os is not picking up my internal hard drive and have no idea how to look for it in the bios can u help me ouit
If the drive is correctly recognized in the BIOS but not by Windows setup you need to use the third-party RAID driver option in the Windows setup and use the disk with the driver that came with the motherboard.
