S.T.A.L.K.E.R, how do you know what version you are running?

and any one else have really low FPS? i turned all the extra grafics off in the game and it still runs slow, i have a good video/grafics card and about 1 gig of RAM left

It says the version on bottom left corner and you should have 1.0004 since it is the latest version. Make sure you get the right patches too, by this I mean U.S., non-U.S., or digital distribution. In the latest patch, grass shadows oddly do not work, but the other fixes seem to make up for it. For the full rundown of all this go here:

The Stalker tweak guide helps a lot, but I would rather suggest you skip this...

First of all, make sure the game is patched up to 1.0004 and that you have the latest DirectX (from www.microsoft.com) as well as latest graphics driver installed. Then go to this link...

Download the latest Float32 Mod (Revision C) and install it. The reason I said the guide above might not be a good idea is simply that Float32 works better with a unchanged user.ltx (the game tweak guide has you changing this file)...

Stalker with the 1.0001 update and no mods or tweaks, I had to run it on static lighting. Now the game runs on full dynamic lighting and it looks and runs perfectly... the Float32 mod also adds some extra graphical feutures (read the forum posts on www.thefloatingpoint.org)
