I think it is a horrible decision by LucasArts. They were always one of my favorite companies (since I love Star Wars anyway), but if they don't give us force unleased at all, they may have lost one customer.
The main problem, is that PC was their primary platform for a number of years. Now, because they don't believe it to be a worthwhile investment releasing it on PC due to "rampant" (I use quotation marks) pirating, which would result in an overall loss.
If you ask me, it lacks all logic.
I wish LucasArts still made games like The Monkey Island series and Grimfandango. All I see nowadays are starwars games...
/sigh
This game really has to be epic for me to buy... im getting kind of tired of all these starwars games.
Also... idont know how theyre going to beat lego starwars, that game was great
heh
i think the main reason they are skipping PC is production costs.
if they just port the game, everyone (PC Gamers) will complain that we got jipped and it runs like **** and looks like crap and "oh, why did you even bother?".. and the sales will be probably half or less than that of its console counterparts. and a ground up build would take them way too long. its all about money.
*pets his Nintendo Wii and his PS3* im not worried though. :P
Since I have both a 360 and PS3, I could not care less if it comes out on PC or not.
But seriously, this is the type of game the console-crowd loves, while PC folks are more or less "Meh.." about it. It would not make much sence to make a port just so 80000 would buy it. Just look at the abysmal sales numbers of Madden.

No it wouldn't. For one it doesn't need to be on PS2. And all the systems that's is going to be on are all different architecture anyways. There not doing anymore work then they first set to do. They should have spent the time doing the PC version instead of the PS2.

Jedi Academy?
How can piracy be a problem? You either make it for PC and make SOME money, or you don't make it for PC, and make NO money.ElArab
Remember, you're talking about a company that said that it wouldn't make a game like Psychonauts because it was too mature and then went on to develop a little game called Full Throttle about biker gangs using steel chains and tire irons to bash each other's skulls in...
Give me a break with piracy. Yes game do get pirated by some (...) but the majority of pc gamer are still buying their games. Exclusive game like Crysis and witcher both reached the famous million. Same multiplatform, game like CoD4 ( and probably the orange box) and unknown exclusive games like X3 (300k) and Sherlock Holmes: The awakened (300k) sold pretty well this year. Good game can still reach the profit level.
Both jedi outcast and jedi academy are million seller on the pc. On the other side, Jedi academy made abysmal sale on the xbox and gamecube (less than 20000 on the gamecube). Maybe for LA we are too hard to please? while the console player are easyer to please and accept to buy every insipide hyped crap (halo and geow anyone?).
I'm sick of this piracy excuss. Truth is LA isn't porting it to the PC because the traitoures bastards are going to consoles because they think they will sell more. Well they can keep TFU, it might have been a good game but there so many better PC games oout there that I'm not bothered anymore about this.
The PS2 is the console to make pirated copies of, lord oh lord when I was in Dubai, PS2 copies of games were like, 1.50 USD (so that's about 4 Dirhams) - and they had so many titles it was ridiculous, and then I just thought "wow, and they say Piracy isn't a problem for consoles..."
Anyway, I think they will do one of these 3, in order from "Most likely" - "Unlikely":

Anyway, I think they will do one of these 3, in order from "Most likely" - "Unlikely":
- Ignore everyone and not make it for the PC because they believe every single myth about PC gaming. (The sales you see on the web are never global, and usually don't include downloads, it's only USA retail :| )
- Go ahead and make it for PC to shut everyone up, but the port will be very lazily made and will require like, 8 gigs of RAM and a plasma powered nVidia card.
- A miracle happens, the Petition made a difference and it comes on the PC and is optimized so well that it could run on a potato with 2 batteries in it, and LA realizes their mistakes, and will never do something this stupid again, and then Ubisoft catches on and does the same.
(btw, I was exaggurating on performance stuff, don't take me 100% litterally ok...)ElArab
Pretty much the way I see it, too.
Honestly, I think that LA is pretty much @#$%ing on the PC crowd. Nothing says it better than their April Fool's 'joke' last April. To announce that LA reconsidered their position on the PC market and decided to release TFU on the PC was not exactly the best idea for an April Fool's joke...Ein-7919
They did that? Seriously? Holy crap, what bastards...

Why do the PSP, DS and PS2 get this game and the PC doesnt? where the hell is the logic in that? Does anyone else find this a little retarded on Lucasarts part?crazyfist36who cares the will suck any way if it's on console it will be just another hack and slash

For those that couldn't find it (although you can just type "April 1" into Control+F :
The Force Unleashed Confirmed for PC!Sunday, April 1st, 2007LUCASARTS CONFIRMS FORCE UNLEASHED TO BE RELEASED ON PC
...the next day...
On Yesterday's Press Release Monday, April 2nd, 2007The press release posted yesterday was fake and not meant to be taken seriously by anyone, in case any of you did in fact believe it was real. April fools!
Unfortunately as far as we know, LucasArts has no plans to develop a PC release of The Force Unleashed. But stay tuned for the latest updates, you never know!
Hope you had a nice April Fools day!Lucasarts betrayed PC gamers. Darth Jim Ward is responsible for the greedy corporative lack of imagination they show nowadays.
This is not the same company that became famous thanks to the PC market and because they made amazing, creative and quality games. No, Lucasarts today is a company that is milking the cow of Star Wars as much as they can. Well, what can you expect?
After all the Emperor George Lucas made The Phantom Menace, put Jar-Jar on it and made all the prequel trilogy look worse than the original by making a CGI movie, with a CGI Yoda and CGI backgrounds. They all just went to the Dark Side I'm afraid.
By the way I won't be buying another Lucasarts game in any platform unless Jim Ward gets fired and we can get Monkey Island 5 and new original games instead of Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars...

These bastard, if they expect me to buy any of their game in the future. This sort of arrogance is giving me a good reason to download a bit torrent program, just for them...
honestly though we haven't had a good star wars game in god knows how long. this one got me excited when i first heard about it, but i don't know if its because i am really pi£$ed off but unleashed looks a bit meh to me now.
their new euphoria engine looks like rag dolls that grab stuff. doesn't look as cool in practice as what they made it out, then again i could simply be suffering from sour grapes syndrome
Too much piracy on the PC. darkmario123
That is bogus.
The publishers of Call of Duty 4 claim it had the highest rate of piracy for its game last year, yet it was also one of the top-selling games as well!
Would Force Unleashed get pirated? Problably, but it would sell a helluva lot of games too, more than enough to make up for the trivial amount of piraters out there. Honestly, if you listen to these idiots, you would think half of the PC gaming community gets their games illegally; I think three percent is a more realistic number.
You know why they use piracy as an excuse? Cuz they know they wont sell a lot of copies. They can make a halfassed game with some "cool" mechanics in it (nothing groundbreaking, just gimmicks like cover, physics, etc) and it will sell well on console. But the same game ported over to PC will get a lukewarm review, and it wont sell as much, since we are picky and know good games.
it is funny "us" pc gamers are a picky lot to please, i mean if halo just came out on the PC we would have though, yeah thats a decent good shooter, not the best shooter ever.
if crysis came out on consoles the way it is, man it would be called the best game ever!!! as it stands its brilliant, but we are picky so we'll pick at it constantly/
Now, now, let's not be elitists here... I agree on some of your points, guys, but there's too much "feeling superior" here right now. PC-gamer does not equal NASA-scientist, while consoller = yokel from Simpsons. You know, just saying....artur79
ya I didnt mean to come off that way. I meant to imply that its both a benefit since it allows some developers to make great games for us, but its also detriment since it drives it away. But it is true; PC gamers are the "wine snobs" of the video gaming world.

I prefer to be a snob than a halo player :P That game is so horrible, I could snipe with my pistol in some multiplayer map like blood gulch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A0rwG39JzkAm I reading this right? Why PS2? Why the friggin' PS2!?
For all I care, we might as well have it the N64 and call it a day.
What the hell is LA thinking!?
Atleast Jim's gone.
quietguy
Jim is gone? Really?
Anyway, Lucasarts seem to be making dumb decision after numb decision. Why is it so hrad for them?? Just make Monkey Island 5 for God's sake! And Knights of the Old Republic III, and please make it a normal RPG not some stupid MMORPG. Make Indiana Jones and Force Unleashed on the PC. And please try to make more original games for each Star Wars game. Then, maybe then I will buy a game from you again.
