My god. I logged on this morning and there were lvl 50's on already complaining about how little there was to do in the end game. The pre-launch is only 5-6 days old and people have maxed their characters already!?!?!??! Has all of the game content been released or are they holding stuff back until the 20th?

Johnny_Rock

I heard that there was a an exp exploit that people could use to powerlevel themselves.

Wonderful.

While this sucks, but as long as I don't accidentally do the exploit (since I am on a PVE server) I guess it won't affect her and my playtime. But I can def see how this would create problems in the PVP area.

Since I am not rushing to get to final level, (seeming just to have something to complain about) by the time I get there, more content would already have been created. Its sad that some gamers actually want this game to fail, I feel sorry for them, putting the "see I was right" or the hate bandwagon, before anything else. Truly sad for so called gamers.

This game seems like a massive KOTOR game, but with Wow elements (NOT WOW IN SPACE, get tired of hearing that nonsense) that has an extremely flexible multiplayer. Easily something that will take a lot of time of mine, hell KOTOR 1 I put about 80 hours into. I can see how I can easily put 10 times that amount on this game, as is, even before more content is created.

One of your security questions was changed.... are you sure its not your end?PC360Wii

Yes, I was finally helped after 4 hours holding on the line. I was right, it was not one of my security questions as I've written down every single one of them with answers as written down in caps/lower cases and spaces. They asked me the usual protocol questions.. did you give out your password to anyone blah blah. Long story short, they took out that one security question that was not mine. And they also recommended me to buy the extra security key feature (physical or mobile app), and I told them I already ordered the physical security key. I mean, this surprised me as much as the next guy but they said they've been getting many calls of the same issue. I guess I'm not the only one. Luckily my SWTOR rep support was a nice guy and he got the job done. I seriously wish it was on my end, and it was only a matter of a capitalized letter, because that 4 hour wait on the phone, after the dropped call from earlier was insane lol.

Thanks you guys for the wonderful comments. :)

It sounds like an exploit, unless these guys played SWTOR, every hour of every waking day since early access beta launch. :P I don't even know if it's still even possible to get to 50 even by doing that. Hmm.

Might be something worth investing in for our own accounts too! Says they are only available on origin... Do we need the origin application to get them, or just create an origin account, to buy them from like an online store?

It's kind of pathetic that our MMORPG accounts are so easily hacked whereas hacking into an online banking account is MUCH harder and more difficult. I think they just need to step up on the security than scam us into buying authenticators.

While I agree, this is just an option for us to provide more security our selves. If bioware/blizzard/etc etc is actually behind a good bit of these account hackings, just to create a need for the demand of security keys, that will pissmeoff! Though I would rather not think they fall in line with many banks, wallstreet, and pharmaceuticals to that kind of point!

For the cheap price of $4, I think we can afford it, as we are going to do probably anyway. I just hope we don't need the Origin application on our computer, seeing as how it says only on origin.

Authenticators are not a scam and they're also free...at least WoW, the only one I know to use authenticators, unless you want the physical ones which obviously costs money to make.

What the mean is that you order it through orgin and they send you the physical authenticator. It's like Blizzard's Online store. You can buy physical and digital goods.

Sorry if this has been answered before but I was hoping some of you with a damn sight more experience than me in PC gaming could help me with something as I've never played an MMO before but I really, really want to play this!

I've got a laptop that uses an AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM74 2.2ghz processor, 4gb ddr2 ram, 512mb ATI Radeon HD4570 graphics card (and 32 bit windows).

Checked my requirements against Can You Run It and it passes everything apart from processor requirements which it fails, even though i thought the minimum requirement was only a dual core 2ghz processor..?

Basically I was just wondering if anyone knowsa bit about processors, knowswhether my laptop will run SWTOR at all (don't care about graphics, just not lagged out to hell)or if it would just be a waste of money buying it? I'm admittedly a console gamer mostly and am just wary about buying a £40 game that I may not be able to run, or take back if I can't.

Cheers

The SWTOR app for iphone is free as well. You have to buy the physical authenticator from Origin/EA.

Yup. My physical authenticator security key is still on the road (delivery), somewhere in Ohio :P (I'm in california). Yeah, somehow I wasn't expecting to encounter these issues so "early" on. ;) But before I got into the early access period, I already had it ordered - just not in time. I failed there. :(

Ahhh didn't know it was free. That's cool! Too bad my 3G iphone broke 2 weeks ago. I'm running on an old Motorola Razer phone until next month - that's when I'll upgrade to 4s iphone. Thank you for the heads up. I thought you had to pay for the iphone app, but even if we had to, it would have still been cheaper than the physical key which cost me $7.50 (i think).

Prexxus

I promise you this, unless you exploit, you will not reach max level real quick with all 8 classes. I am fiddling around with 3 classes, and enjoying them all greatly.

By then more content will have been created (for free) also expansion packs maybe on the horizon as well.

I would have to say it is the best MMO that I have played, (although may not be the best, in the MMO department, but it is the best game that I have played that happends to be an MMO, and Ive played a few) Seems more like a very very flexible multiplayer Massive Kotor game. (though thats my opinion)

Now I am not trying to talk you into it, just clarifying the max level comment.

Kind of annoyed at the maintenance window today. 7 PM EST... prime time for a lot of us in North America. I understand they're preparing for the "launch" I guess, as the game would technically get released midnight tonight.. but come on. It's pretty much already out ;)

Been playing for 20 hours and I'm level 17 on my Jedi Sage. I will most likely not be playing more after the 30 days are up, so I'll just treat the game as an online KOTOR game.

As I'm only lvl 17 I won't say anything about balance issues, but I will say that at this level in PvP I can't outheal anyone when they're on me, heals do too little at this level.

Healing works fine in the heroic quest things, though I'm still not liking the delay on heals.

I'll mostly be playing for the story which I happen to enjoy because of the way it's presented in dialogue.

Couple of questions, starting from biggest grip - Are there any diminishing returns on CC? I seem to be getting electrified every other second or so. And will they introduce more graphical options like view distance? I know there's going to be AA.

And what's with the mouse smoothing when turning the camera?, don't want that.

I have everything set on the lowest but 25 fps in cities or in big open environments isn't to my liking. Would like to turn off even more things

Yeah just did Hammer Station and Athiss. Was a bit dissapointed. Little no story and the last boss on Athiss needs to be hit with the nerf bat.

So I've been playing since dec 15th and I've got a level 20 Bounty Hunter. I've soaked up everything, all the conversations, warzones, etc.

Just want to say this game is amazing, it's an mmorpg that plays like single player game. Bioware is now forgiven for Dragon Age II.

Yea hammerstation was incredible small, just a filler one really. Last boss of Athiss was a joke .. hes got a lot of health and thats about it. ofcourse dodging the fire is very easy and is about the only real threat.

Yep, very similar to WoW but I am enjoying it. Amazing how voiced NPCs make a difference instead a reading a quest text. Just got my CE this morning from USA (Amazon). MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD THE BOX IS GIGANTIC !!! THE STATUE is really good quality too :)

Wish I had the money for the CE. :(

I just got into SWTOR yesterday and it took me some time to warm up to it. I've played WoW for a couple of years on and off before and I've burned myself out on that game so I just wanted to try something new .. It feels more like a structured, instanced type of game rather than the more open-ended nature of WoW but I'm only level 6. I assume it opens up later on.

Really (for me), the only cool thing about the CE is the Statue. - I get the Security Dongle, which I won't use anyway since I'm going to use the iPhone App (less secure or same?) - Soundtrack which you can always get it from iTunes later on. - Book which is another pretty cool thing, but you can always get it in PDF - Galaxy Map which is cool, but I thought it would be bigger. I don't know what VIRTUAL items you get though, anyone know?

To me, I feel the physical authenticator has more security. What if your ipod decides to take a dump? Yeah it's free but I'd rather have the physical button. As for digital items. You get some useless things like the flare gun and holo dancer but you get a mount. Which is cool I guess.

I just see the physical authenticator as a "nuinsance" on my desk. I like to have my computer desk as clean as possible (with minimal objects). Also I would have to change the battery one day on it....although probably last years.

The iPhone App is comfortable imo cause I always have my phone with me anyway.... but really doesn't matter I guess.

Holo Dancer.... yeahhhhhh, cool when I'm getting drunk in the cantina with my Sith Buddies. Mount also cool but I can't use it till lvl 20 I believe (and $40,000).

Yeah. My authenticator for WoW has lasted me a long time. Mounts are level 25 and are they really that expensive?

And Nar Shaddaa is freaking AMAZING! Like it's ten times better than what I pictured it was going to be. I know my hang out spot now. ;)

For what it's worth, Eurogamer Italy gave the game an 8/10.

"Star Wars: the Old Republic is a good MMORPG with lot of action and an awesome atmosphere. If you are tired of Azeroth, you´d better have a look at it. If you love Star Wars, well... get ready to say goodbye to your social life!"

The review is not in english though: http://www.eurogamer.it/articles/2011-12-20-videogiochi-star-wars-the-old-republic-review-recensione

I pretty much agree with that statement. I haven't read the review yet but as a long time WoW player and Star Wars nerd, TOR brings a lot of fresh air to the MMO universe.

Yeah I'm not really a Star Wars fan, don't know much more about it than your average person. I personally fall into the former group; I played WoW on and off for a few years and I quit playing altogether a long time ago.

I'm on holiday break from college at the moment so I wanted something to play in my free time and I decided to try something new with SWTOR because I've already burned myself out with WoW. Really enjoying it so far.

Welcome to the SW nerd fest :) Glad to see more people checking it our regardless of their interest in the fantasy world behind it. I personally am a huge SW lore geek, I read the SW wiki for fun :P

I'm glad this game has absolutely delivered for me. If I quit tomorrow I would have considered this my money's worth. I have certainly put more time into it than most other games already. Nice to see a MMO come out that I have *fun* playing...compared to the past failures over the years....(Rift, Aion, Age of Conan, DCUO, Champions, and Warhammer just to name a few). I played some of those for extended amounts of time, but I never had as much fun in them as I already have had in SWTOR. As of now, SWTOR is easily rivaling my favorite WoW moments.

Agreed with you. Except mine was for MMO"s period. I have tried them all and I have always loved the concept of MMO's but just could never get into it. I tried to get into WoW like 10 times because my friends played and never could get into it, SWG I got into for a little bit but that was my first MMO so it was new (and star wars) so I was a little hooked but got to level 38 got bored, quit. Played LOTRO, same thing it took me 2 years to get to level 33 (lol) because I just got bored of it after a week after susbcribing for a month. AoC I thought was going to be awesome, got bored of that insanely fast as well. I have played many others and this is by far the best MMO I have ever played. I never thought I would ever see the day I could play an MMO so much. Already I am 34 and its so hard for me to put the game down. The story is amazing, star wars, companions are awesome I am in complete love with this game. I knew I would enjoy it just because of star wars but I did not think it would sink its teeth into me like it has. Love you bioware for making awesome games
