And it completely deserved it. Read it and weep ME2 fanboys. Looking forward to reading the ragers comments. :P

Although I admit the game was great and the story was amazing, I hardly played any matches online and it's replay value for me was low. I liked Mass Effect 2 a bit more because of the replay value I found in wanting to make paragon and renegade characters.Lord_DoDo56
This exactly. It should've gone to ME2, even though it was a port.
Of course, only most posters on GS would think otherwise. SC 2 can't possibly get a single PC GOTY award.DanielDust
Why should it win a GOTY?
They gave almost every award out to ME2... I mean it's their to give, but... "Most Innovative Game-play" "Best Visuals" Really now, this is damnright embarrassing. GeneralShowzer
Where can i see the awards list :D?
Lol nevermind im blind :D

Why shouldn't it? Do you really consider that these kind of questions deserve an answer? it will always go into "OMG "game X" (SC 2) is bad, nothing new, the game I like is way better than that because I like that genre more/it's innovative and changes my perspective on the whole genre". Just because you like a game that didn't get GOTY on a website, doesn't mean another can't...[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]They gave almost every award out to ME2... I mean it's their to give, but... It's on the link TC gave. Here http://bestof.ign.com/2010/pc/It's not like it had a lot of competition. The only game this year which is on its level of quality is New Vegas.

Just because you like a game that didn't get GOTY on a website, doesn't mean another can't...Congratulations on assuming a flawed position. Originality is irrelavent, but how you present a product is what matters. Personally, I can't say I was impressed with the campaign, but the gameplay was solid. Per usual, your views differ wildly from mine. My apparent confusion stems from how this game trumped another, but if we argue that, the cows will both come home AND be sent to the slaughter house before an acceptable agreement is reached.
I merely asked you for YOUR opinion on why SCII is superior. Who knows? I could actually AGREE with you and raise the game up on my list a few notches. Ball's in your court.

That's the only way i can explain why someone would say SCII has no replay value.

I see your point, but doesn't have to be necessary a pirated version. Take for example me, I bought SC2 (loved the first one), finished the campaign but never played online.... (I just suck at RTS online, I barely made it on easy on the campaign, lol...)[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"] The online IS the replay value when it comes to StarCraft... Yeah I've heard, but I would probably loose more games than I win.... if it comes to online, I would rather play WoW or CoD where I am actually decent-to-good at....
While SC2 was a great game, but I wouldn't have given it GOTY. My personal GOTY is STALKER Call of Pripyat. $40 for a game that is full of awesome. Only big blockebuster games Win GOTY on review sites though....
[QUOTE="SerOlmy"]Well Blizzard has it in their marketing contract that they have to get welfare awards form at least 10% of online publication or Bobby Kotich will "receive the first born of of all associated editors and an assortment of various artisan breads". Starcraft 2, deserves very few awards IMO. Certainly not innovation, nor graphics, nor story, nor gameplay, maybe in polish, and arguably competitive multiplayer. Certainly not GotY in my opinion. I think it has to do with the whole package and the improvement, and how polished it is in every single aspect (SP, MP, CutScenes, Voice Acting, Graphics, Story etc...) ME2 i think is his favorite game of the year.
Because that had innovation, graphics, and game-play right?
At least SC II didn't dumb down it's predecessor to appeal to the COD audience. I would take SC II Epic so bad it's good storyline, over ME2, which was almost non existant.
All you did in that game was wonder aimlessly, fixing the family dramas of your teammates which didn't have any connection with the main storyline. And the ending twist and boss was really bad.
I don't know if SC2's story was bad. I mean, compared to what? A movie? I haven't played through the whole thing yet but so far it seems to be at that standard game level of storytelling. Its not terrible, just serviceable I think. At least the characters are fun. I'm not particularly critical of the story because it seems so secondary to the game play and never interrupts how complete those mechanics are. biggest_loserIt's very cheesy but in a good way. And the cinematics are really amazing.
I say it's well deserved. Besides the P.O.S. story, Starcraft II has great multiplayer and phenomenal mission variety. After this release, I hope to see more mission variety for other RTS games beyond the oft repeated bog standard thinly veiled "multiplayer" match against horrendous AI with bad cutscenese attached. It's a great game (although, my personal Game of the Year would probably be Amnesia).

I would argue that. And also the fact that polish is no excuse for doing absolutely nothing new or interesting. SC2 was SC1 with a graphic overhaul and race balance improvements. Not worth the 10 year wait by a long shot IMO, certainly not for GotY.

People say that the cinematics are so impressive. Ok, the high end ones are good, but the ones that are done in-engine are complete garbage IMO. At least other games the do in-engine cutsceens actually have the graphical detail to make them look better than an 80's cartoon.

Interacting with stuff on your ship was great fun though, and the attention to detail was amazing. Also tell me, what exactly do you want changed in SC II? It's a perfectly good formula that doesn't need much changing, do you know how much i want a Deus Ex with the same mechanics as the first one only with todays graphics? Or Thief with todays graphics. Games of today always look to dumb stuff further, that's not evolution, rather devolution. I can't believe Fable III passes for an RPG these days...RTS isn't my thing, and I was rooting for ME2 but I understand that SC2 is a terrific game so I'm not complaining. I just hope ME2 gets overall GotY. At least it won 360 GotY :)

Honestly, if thats what SC1 was like I wouldn't want those mechanics changed. The different between SC2 and other RTS titles is the amount of variety in the game. This leaves all the C&C games etc for dead. I think the emphasis on micro management is incredibly clever.[QUOTE="SerOlmy"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"] It's very cheesy but in a good way. Maybe you can do better with Microsoft Paint...? stop trolling.....Never heard of it.flipin_jackassYou should really try it, it's a great game.... has a character that looks like the one you have on your profile pic....
Never heard of it.flipin_jackassHa-ha! I Get it! See he has an SC2 avatar! But he says, get-this! He hasn't heard of it! Who-who, look out Bob Hope and BL!
Why is everyone on this forum rooting for the non PC game here ?GeneralShowzerIt's not that (and not everyone is).... just that there are a lot of Mass Effect fanboys around, and they think SC2 is just SC1 with added graphics (which is way off). Mass Effect 1 + 2 are AMAZING games (and they deserve lots of prizes), but in the end, SC2 not only has an improved, perfectly polished SP Campaign, but also an improved and polished online experience...
